Shouldn't they be dealing with real crime....

So this morning on my way to work I stop by the same gas station I always stop at to get my rockstar and can of coppenhagen (breakfast of champs). And everyday the same cop is sitting in the parking lot across the street. Everyday I pull out to the stop light in front of the station to make the left turn on to the road my job is on and everytime once i get in the turn lane i dont use my signal. For some reason today he decides to pull me over for it and write me a ticket. Most embarassing part about it is that he waited to flip the lights on untill i was pulling into the parking lot where i work....Talk about a great start to the day huh.

They do it just for fun and bragging rights. Yes, they have better things to do. It's pretty common in police forces to have bets on who can write the most tickets in one week.

It's actually just a game to most of them. He could have pulled you over immediatly, but he wanted to agitate you beforehand...

There's plenty of police officers on these message boards.. let thim chime in and answer.

Sounds like he gave ya quite a few chances to use the signal. Maybe now you will.

Sled...

well the only time i dont use it (and im not saying everytime, but a majority of it) is when i am in a turn lane. Which makes it fairly clear about what my intentions are, as there is a giant arrow on the ground telling people that I am about to make a turn.

well that is a traffic violation but was very **** of him to wait till you got into the parking lot, but im sure he had a good laugh with the others at the station about it, LOL...but ya that sucks, how much was the ticket?

krism83 Apr 19, 2007 01:16 AM

well will you be using your signal now?...LOL
my friends never use it and always make fun of me for using it every time i change lanes even if there is nobody near me, its a habit...a money saving one, but he should have warned you for something like that, i guess he wanted to share his bad day with you

krism83 Apr 19, 2007 01:35 AM

and see thats the thing....I use it for every lane change for every right turn, when i park on the street, everything...except when im in a lane designated to make left turns only. Guess I will start now thought.

Only other difference...I use my turn signal.

I don't have much time to debate such a silly subject:p but just cause the line is painted, does that make it any less of a moving violation that you did NOT use your blinker??? You say you have been doing the same thing over and over for years and you in fact are aware that what you are doing is a violation yet you still do it? Every officer has the discretion to write a ticket or not to, obviously this officer felt the need to write one for you. I'm sure the ticket served its purpose though considering you shall never forget to use that blinker now eh?

harleydude78 Apr 19, 2007 09:27 AM

i always love the threads about people complaining about the cop when they were in the wrong

Copenhagen848 Apr 19, 2007 09:44 AM

I guess if I knew there was a police officer in the same spot watching for traffic violations everyday, I'd probably obey all traffic laws....that's just me though.

he probably thought that you stopped to get doughnuts, and got pissed when you didn't have any and decided to write you up
