Sharpton sucks...
Most would put Imus squarely in the Liberal camp politically. He's tore GWB a new one since almost day one. That begs the question, why have his political buddies gone after him so hard on this issue. He's said worse in the past; and, it was easy to see (in context) that it was part of his shtick. I'm not saying it was OK; but, was it really a big deal before Sharpton started whipping up a media frenzy?
A week before, he turned on his political buddy Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on the Walter Read issue. He's also been very critical of Hilary of late. They can't have someone as strong with the North-East liberal electorate pointing out their hypocrisy. It might actually stick coming from somewhere other than the Right.

Most of the so called "black leaders" of today are like Sharpton and Jackson. They are the blacks biggest enemy - they are the ones holding them down, if anyone is. That's why every successful "African-American" that I know completely rejects "their" leaders and looks inward for success.
The American way is to succeed against any and all odds. Excuses and accusations will never get you to the top!

Here is my $0.02 on the issue:
Imus was in the wrong, He knew he was after the fact and has admitted to it. People in the national media should know better then anyone that there is absolutly no tolerance for that in this country anymore...at least towards non-white atheletes, rappers, etc. He was fired as he should have been for his remarks, there were in appropriate and uncalled for. Maybe he was just mad at them cause he lost money in his brackets?
On the other hand. There was no need for Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton to make such a big stink out of it. I think it was just another way to get there names out there in the spotlight again. I by no means are in anyway a fan of either of them and how they go about thier business, but if they didn't make a big deal out of Imus now, then they would have all that pent up aggression come election time when they are backing Barak O'Bama in his campaign.
When all is said and done there really was no "winner" in this situation

I would disagree that he "deserved" to be fired. He was fired strictly for political reasons. If he was fired because they had issue with his mouth, it would have happened many years ago. Anytime someone gets axed for politics, it is BS.
Idisagree with Imus on virtually everything, but that should have been between he and his employer, not political pressure.
