horsepower question

my 01' supercrew 4.6 , w/a hypertech programmer set @93 octane, factory tires ,a borla catback exhaust system and a k &n cold air intake and cannot spin the wheels if it tried but my brothers 98 extended cab will rip em" right up.the only differences are the wheel base and my rims are 17" and his are 16".axle ratio"s match engines etc.i gotta know how to get this right.rumor was the factory computer will not allow this afetr 2001 for economic reasons.i"m looking for some input on the performance.thanks everyone.

It is the PCM fighting the urge. Its not for 'economic reasons', its because wheel spin is bad. Getting power to the ground without spinning the tires is the goal. Need to tow stuff? Spinning doesn't help. Need to beat someone off the line? Burnin' rubber doesn't help.

Case in point: When I reset my PCM I can roast the tires. A tank or two of gas later the PCM has learned what's going on and I can no longer burn 'em with just the stomp of the peddle. However, my 0-60 time dramatically improves. Go figure.

Moral of this post: Let the friggin' PCM do its thing and brake torque if you want to look cool. Also, post in the correct forum from now on.

If I put my foot on the brake, my rear tires will smoke like crazy...without my foot on the brake, they just kind of chirp, I feel the rear end go sideways a little bit, but then it's all traction from there.

I don't understand wanting to spin..... I've spent all this time trying not to spin the tires. Weather I'm on the track or trying to get my boat up out of the lake, spinning tires are embarrassing, means you dont know how to drive, your truck is trying to help you look like you know what you are doing behind the wheel.
