Nascar...

I was just wondering (This is the kind of random BS that floats through my head all day) why when you look at NASCAR, at least in my times of passing interest (1983 - Present), that the Big 3, don't run thier "pony" cars in NASCAR.

Why doesn't Ford run Mustangs (And, back in the day, Capri's)

Why didn't GM run Camaro's and Firebirds (Yes, I remember IROC was all Camaro's)

From the movie "Cars" I see Chrysler (Namely, Richard Petty) drove a Daytona SuperBee.

Every since I've watched, GM ran Monte Carlo's, Lumina's, Grand Prix', Regals, Cutlass', Ford Ran Thunderbird's (Bill Elliot) And, most recently Tauruses and Fusions, and I don't remember any significant Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth's other than the Intrepid.

Why not the Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, and Charger, rather than the Fusion, whatever GM is running now-a-days, and the same for DC?

Chevy is about to run the Impala full time, and Dodge runs the Charger already, but they will be going to the Avenger.

I heard a rumor that NASCAR was lookin at making the Bush Series "Pony" cars. i.e. Mustangs, Pontiac's, Chevys etc.

But haven't heard anything more in several months.

As long as I've been a NASCAR fan, I've never thought about it.

I guess they wan't to run the cars that have higher sales volume.

As if there are ANY simularities between the Taurus @ the local dealership and the Nascar one. There wouldnt be any with the pony cars either.

I remember how it was *big* news when Ford brought in the Taurus because it was the first 4 door car nameplate to be used in nascar.

eh i dont think it matters at this point.
nascar is making so many goddamn rules everycar is becoming nearly identical except for the engines.
if they ever take away that right ill stop watching, i dont want nextel to be iroc.

and if they do the mustang for the busch series, whos really gonna care/notice.
the busch series doesnt even matter anymore.
****s like carl edwards and harvick have to take away the opportunities of young drivers to even prove themselves anymore by running all these busch races.
look at when jimmie johnson was doin busch, he was doin good and gordon noticed him so he got into nextel.
now we got so many cup guys racing and filling the top 10, you dont see young drivers with potential.
nascar should make it so only cup rookies can race in busch..

/rant off.

That looks cool... Real cars (or at least easily recognizable)... it's called stock car racing... I want to see STOCK cars on the track... in the sand... heh
