All the correct drivers installed? Screen resolution set for the native resolution of the laptop display? My guess is no...

i bought a new computer with vista. spent an entire saturday trying to get a cad cutter and printer installed. good luck finding what you are looking for cause it aint in the same place as it was on xp. i got to the point of taking the computer back but all that they sell has vista. i needed the memory and speed for a graphics program. microsoft screwed us good with this one. be careful buying software and programs. check the website and see if it is compatable with vista or if there are any known problems. once you open it you cant take it back. the printer i bought as part of the package was not compatable until i downloaded a driver from the epson site. but that was after i installed the driver from the cd that came with it. now there are 2 drivers, kinda like having a female in the passenger seat, it dont work.

Yeah, Microsoft really screwed you for having outdated programs! Everything is pretty much in the same place it was in XP, though cleverly disguised. Try clicking "Classic View" in the control panel and you get the same look and feel from the Win95/NT/XP control panel. Hell, Windoze 3.1 for that matter. And the XP compatibility mode works, so try using it. Don't bash the O/S 'cuz you don't know what the hell your doing. Your just like a Mac person, Sheesh!

I'm not saying I'm smarter, I'm saying its silly to bash something because you don't know it. How is Microsoft screwing you for providing a new, refined, more powerful O/S?! God forbid you take some time and learn something.

I've got to agree with D on this. Microsoft didn't screw up, it is a matter of learning the new OS. Imagine running a network and going from NT domains to 2000 active directory. It isn't that AD was worse but it took time and reading and clicking to learn it.

Initially I thought, "Well that is dumb" now I look at an NT environment and sigh...wishing the person would get current.

One thing that didn't help though was the zero day changes MS put into the system when they released it. Things that were not in the pre-release that did screw other software. That being said, you always look for new drivers that come out, including for XP.
