DVD player question

Probably a dumb question but I have to ask before I throw it out. I got a Toshiba dvd player, its a couple years old and has recently started acting up and won't play some dvd's. Is this thing garbage now or can a dvd player be serviced?

Not even close to worth spending the money t have it diagnosed or fixed.

Get a new one.

You could try replacing the motor. A lot of DVD/CD players that start having problems it's all because of the little motor that spins the disc. Like Gear Jammer says, new ones are cheap, if you aren't handy or just don't feel like tearing into it, go get a new one.

At minimum, you would probably pay close to $50 just for someone to look at it. For $100 you can buy a player that plays and records. Just like a VCR, DVD players are now cheap enough that they are throw aways.

It's a shame that we don't even expect our products to last anymore just because they are less than $100.

Thanks guys (and gals), I didn't think it could be fixed, but now that I'm prepared to buy new one, I'm gonna tear into this one anyways to see what makes it tick, maybe clean it up and try it again, what have I got to lose.
If it doesn't work I think I'll pick up one of these Sony units, they seem to have alot of good reviews and fairly cheap.
