Although I've had a few Hondas in my time, this is just one of the current stable of two wheel fun I've come to love.

Occasionally I get to ride it here:

Lot of nice bikes fellas! Jamzypooh, I would take the bike over the truck anyday... plus the bike is worth more than the truck, how sad is that?

I've done some reading on KTM's. They are supposed to be a hella dirt bike and they also make a good dual purpose one like my 650. I say get one big guy......real men do it in the dirt!

I'd stay away from KTM, personally.

The big four are all great bikes though.

DZERVIT, do you know if ther are any ergo differences between the R1200 RT & ST? Bars? Pegs? Seat? Etc... I've never seen the two next to each other. There's only one BMW bike dealer near my house & they only have the RT. I'm planning on buying a larger touring bike as a retirement present to myself & the R1200's are on the top of the list.

I think the seating and basic ergos are very similar. The ST is just a less frills less weight sportier version. The ST was never on my list so I never paid much attention to it at the dealer, sorry. If I'm around my dealer I'll pop in and compare... hopefully have my camera with me as well.

I love, I repeat, LOVE my RT.

Here's my last bike. I'm currently riding a 97 BMW K1100LT . I've got a 70 mile commute to work and ride it All the time..

I've also got a 99 KTM 300EXC. Now that's a Real man's bike!

I've also got a Couple Cannondales too if they count. Scalpel and a System Six.

Yay! Picture whoring! Here's mine:

2007 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 Shaft Drive, picked it up NEW about a month ago for around $6399 OTD. Not too bad considering it's an all new model this year. In the past I have ridden a Ninja, R1, 600F4i, and 600RR (in no particular order).

Here is one of me on my old bike, a Honda CR250 with a full off-road conversion. This was in the middle of August, at about 8,500' elevation.

And another taken the same day. I'm on the right, with my buddies on a KXF450 and a CRF450.

My current ride is a 2002 KTM250EXC, with Novation suspension. KTM makes great trail bikes. At any cross country race, the field will be at least 50% KTM these days. It's been that way for awhile, and it isn't because they suck.

Any of the modern 450 MX bikes or trail bikes like the CRF450X or '08 KXF450X would be great for a big guy. Just put on a taller seat and some stiffer springs. KTMs big 525 is also a blast to ride. If you want a two stroke, the KTM300 has enough beans to pull the big boys around the trails.

Why is there a bad rap on KTM? Their price? I hear lots of guys bashing KTM but most never seem to tell why.

I know if I was getting an off roader, it would be a KTM.
