New Pre Owner
New Pre Owner
Im new to the F150 forums and would like to say hi. Im 21yrs old and live in Arizona. I recently sold my last project, a '97 Ford Ranger 2wd.
The new truck is a '93 F150 5.8 4x4 Auto with about 118k miles. And let me say, the gas mileage scares the shlt out of me, haha. If Im doing my guesstimation accurate enough, it looks like I'll be gettin' 7-8 MPG, a big change from 13-14 MPG in my old Ranger. This truck is taking place of Project Knukka (Ranger) and is now my next project. I feel a good name for this project would be Project Il Padrino (translate from Italian to God Father). I plan to make this truck into a chase truck for an desert race team. Im very new to 4x4 trucks and gas sucking engines, haha. And I dont know how the hell you guys deal with the oil filter wedged up in there like that, haha.
There's only a small amount of body damage to the truck. The previous owner had a cargo bed cover and it rubbed a trim of paint off the rear window area and then there's about a 12"x3" area of clear coat coming off the right rear fender.
I found this truck at a Dodge dealer and I feel I got a smoking deal on it. The asking price on the truck was $7,800...now I knew that was WAY over priced. I figured Id try to see what I could do since my Ranger wasnt what I wanted/needed anymore. They first came to me with a trade in price of $500 for my '97 Ranger 2wd 4.0 with 128k miles. I totally laughed at them and said, "no, I will only take $2,500 for my trade in value." Then they asked what I think was reasonable for the F150, I told them "$4,500". They bitched and moaned and got 2 sales managers on me trying to convince me that was to low. I had nothing to lose, so I told them I'll look around at other dealers and see what they have. While walking out, the head sales manager came to my dad and told him "Ill give you $500 to convince your son on buyin' this truck." and the manager agreed with everything I said I wanted in the deal, $2,500 for my truck and $4500 for the price of the F150. Now minus the $500 from the $4,500 and is now $4000 for the truck price. $4000 - $2500 = $1500 plus taxes and fees out the door. Not bad for my first car dealership haggle I think.
I dont know how to post pictures...but Ill try.

Now, like I said, Im very new to F150's. Ive only owned Ranger's since I started to drive. If you guys know of any F150 forums and F150 aftermarket parts website...PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Im needing to get that 7-8 MPG to at least 12-13 MPG if I can.

Pretty good deal! You need to give that bad boy a complete tune up. From cleaning the TB to replacing the 02's, and everything in between. As far as working on it, think of it as just a larger version of the Ranger. And everything you need to know is available on this site, with links to aftermarket parts too.
