Smile Kentucky.

Alright- you've had to have seen it. Tubby walks from UK. Good choice, bad choice, who's next to grace the hardwood of Rupp Arena?
I know we've got lots of Kentuckians, and college BBall fans here....

My opinion:
Tubby was a top notch, class act and a Great coach- It was time- 10 yrs is a great stretch., change is inevitable. Wish him and his family the very best up in Minny.
UK -class of '05-

I dont know, around here its the talk of the town. For the last year or so people said its time for him to go, had he done better this year they most likely would have kept him or should I say he might have stayed, but since UK went out so early in the tournament I can see why he left.
Me personally, its been 10 years, its time for a change, not saying Tubby is bad I think he's a great coach and a great person, he has done a lot of thing to help others outside of basketball, someone new who can get us back on top is what we need, who that is I don't know but htey have some big shoes to fill Kentucky won't settle for jsut anyone

You wouldn't know it, I haven't seen a single March Madness thread yet.

a friend of mine told me that after kentucky lost the sec tournament this year some UK fans put a for sale signs in front of his house. i did not like tubby im glad he is gone. Rick Pitino was a much better coach there but he has done nothing for Louisville

interesting site chris- UVa yuk! lol- I've got mixed feelings on Ricky P- sure he knows how to handle UK, but would he even consider returning--putting into consideration how much big blue despises him for going to the birds [especially after his first appearance back in Rupp, from signing on w/ UL]?
whoever gets the job, its gonna be a huge contract, bad for college bball, good for pocketbooks... I wouldn't mind (in no part. order) Calipari, Billy D, Mark Few

As a Golden Gopher fan, I am thrilled to get Tubby up in Minneapolis! After the departure of Clem Haskins, the once-proud Minnesota program has languished. Getting a "big time" hire like Tubby Smith or Bobby Knight was the only way to give the program a good kick-start toward getting it back to what it once was -- one of the HOTTEST tickets in town!

I believe Tubby to be a class act; that being said, though, coaching hoops at KU is like coaching football at Ohio State---and people there still worship Wayne Woodrow (Woody) Hayes---and he has been dead for 20 years! I wish him the best up at Minnesota---he will be an asset to the university's basketball and athletic program.

Thank God he is gone, I never liked Tubby, As a matter of fact I haven't watched a game in 3 years because of him. He had the best recruiting class in the nation a few years ago and still couldn't do better than a second round loss. I was mad when RP left but I wouldn't want him back either. I just hope they get someone who will bring the glory back to UK.

I am pretty sure Arkansas will be looking for a new coach after today. I also believe that Billy Gillispie will be the man that we look to if Heath is not retained.

Only time will tell if my predictions are true though.

As far as UK, I have heard big $$$$ rumors about Billy Donovan. I also hear that Calipari is not being mentioned as a replacement possibility.

That man has his work cut out for him in MN. The recruits for next year are horrible and the current players are worse. The players are walking around campus happy that Tubby is hear but silently pissed because they know he's going to cut them and recruit better talent.

MN will be a true test to see how good his is. We already know Tubby is great, but MN will be a legend material test.
