When will we ever get it right. Its just another black eye for America. Some day we will remove politics from the equation and do whats right. The almighty buck needs to stop and work for the people.

Why bring this up again? That place was screwed up long before Katrina and nobody did anything about it then, so why are people upset when they are trying to fix it now? Who knows. Who would want to live below sea level anyway. Blame the French for it.

The state of Louisiana and the city or New Orleans has squandered billions of dollars over the past several hundred years. Why should it be my problem that they can not look up and see water and not realize that there is a problem? These are the same people that re-elected a fool who was too stupid use school buses that were sitting empty in a parking lot to evacuate people. It does not take a rocket scientist to see acres of buses and hundreds of people needing a ride and put two and two together. Yet Ray Nagin could not. I feel no remorse for people that stupid, they got what's commin' to them.

While I have limited respect for the French, the old French section is actually above sea level!

I suspect it would actually be cheaper to haul 1,000,000 truckloads of dirt from the Arkansas hills and raise the whole city 20'.

1,000,000 truckloads of dirt * $1,000 per truckload = $1 billion. That's a drop in the bucket compared to what they're going to spend fixing the place.

I know some guys in Arkansas that would be more than happy to sell them 1,000,000 truckloads of dirt at $1.00 each!

While I see the point that you are trying to make, I feel that you have greatly under valued Arkansas dirt. To buy dirt from the great state of Arkansas you will need either a lot more money or a much smaller truck. If you seek to purchase dirt for the paltry sum of $1 a truck load you would need to go to Texas. Arkansas dirt is well worth $10,000 per truck load. However, even at this rate you would still not scratch the surface of the vast sums of money that has been wasted on New Orleans. Yet, they have nothing to show for it.
