No, CDL is Commercial Driver's License. Non commercial use does not require a CDL. Like adrian I don't agree with that but thats how Uhaul and other rentals can rent the big trucks to anybody wit ha drivers license too.... Of course if I get the truck I'm going to make it work for me but I'm previously covered. Even if your using 1/2 ton truck to haul stuff for other people then you also need a CDL or depending on the work a chauffeurs license may work. Anything for hire..... Even pizza delivery people in their geo metro are suppose to have a chauffeurs license.

Thats all the guy had that towed my camper home for me.... He owns a towing company and pulls boats trialers ets around too. he had to have a CDL in order to charge me to pull it for me.
