New bike!! Thoughts, ideas?

Hey all,

Ever since I got rid of the F-150 (and for many moons before that) I've been looking at a motorcycle. Well, I finally pulled the trigger on one tonight. It's a 2007 Honda Shadow 750. I got it for a good deal, not the best deal but they actually bargained on it believe it or not. It's a new model for the '07 MY, being shaft drive and all. Let's just say I didn't pay the $6799 MSRP. Anyway, it's a pretty sweet bike for a first time rider (on the street anyway). I've been riding dirtbikes as long as I can remember, so that experience should transfer over fairly well. Anyway, here's a crappy pic. I got it home late, so I will take some more tomorrow in the sunshine. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Nice looking ride.

I regret not going back to the HD dealership after I got approved for a brand spanking new 06 883 sportster for $6400.

Nice ride.....I bought my 05 Swift Tormentor the day after I bought my 05 F150 Fx4. Love them both. Just ordered a flowmaster exhaust and 2.5" autospring leveling kit, should be here this weekend. Now the fun begins with the mods for the truck as the chopper doesnt need any.

Honda makes a pretty sweet bike. That's what I can tell so far. Best part is, the insurance is CHEAP! Only $23.75/mo for full coverage 100/300/50 with a 500 deductible. That's through GEICO btw..

Happy riding folks!

Sweet! Nice ride!

Only a couple more weeks and the weather should stay above freezing and that means its time to park the truck and bust out the bike again!!!

On a side note I'm thinking about getting a dirt bike and riding with a guy at work. Any tips on a decent dirt bike that fits a near seven footer? LOL...

need to see some good outside pics.

i had my xl883 converted to a 1200 in december and have only put around 200 miles on it since (due to the season).

i am getting real antsy waiting for the weather to improve, and the streets to 'clean up' so i can get back to riding again.

got to go out for about 1 hour this past weekend, but that was just a tease.

good luck with the bike, i know the shadow has been around for quite some time, so they must be doing something right.

Nice bike. I really like the Shadow's. I have a 1980 CB 750 F SuperSport I'm in the process of fixing up.

Nice ride, makes me miss my honda 750 a.c.e! but damn D.C. traffic convinced me to sell that baby!
Get some good leather!!
I'd love another bike, unfortunately no one else in the family agrees with me!

You asked for thoughts and ideas: Be careful taking curves because A) the weight of the bike may pull you over the center line (i.e. straight) and B) there may be sand on the road. If you find you can't make the turn you must lean more, which could cause your wheel to wash out, or hold bike upright and lean your body into the turn like the sport bike racers. This is the only way to save yourself if you're going too fast into a turn.

That happened to me on the way back to work. I kept getting drawn to the center line, well once anyway. I just leaned a little further and that solved that problem right away. I got my insurance policy active through GEICO now and I need to go down and re-apply for my MC endorsement.

D, if I was you I would check out any dirtbike/enduro in the 500cc+ range. I grew up on dirt bikes, having owned a 50cc at age 5, and most recently a YFZ450 at age 25.
