This reminds of when I hit an owl in my old 02 Cummins Dodge at 160kph, glass all over the interior but had to drive home another 6hrs through the night with my head out the window.

BTW, those must be very ling white dotted lines cause they were passing by real slow for 180mph

I think the speed is 180KPH not 180MPH. He stopped way too fast for that to be im MPH.

That'll make some great video from the handheld, you know, the kind that makes you get motion sickness from watching it.

It looks like he was moving pretty fast from how little time it took to get on the bird. I seriously doubt it was 180KPH or 180MPH though.

You guys should try that in a KC-10 at 200KIAS. Sounds like a gun shot. I was flying a local a few years back & we took a NJ goose into #3. We saw it fly by but weren't sure if we hit it. 20 seconds later it starts smelling like someone cooking fried chicken. That a sure fire way to tell if you've taken a bird down the engine core. This is the exact reason I bought a digital camera. I would have never believed the results unless I saw them with my own eyes. There were feather & guts everywhere but the engine never quit or gave us any trouble. General Electric CF6-50C2's rock.

KC-10 FE out...

I smelled pine needles really strong during an NVG flight in our Blackhawk, we all thought it was wierd, till we landed, and saw that we took out our lower anti-collision light, put a dent in the stabilator, and dinged 2 main rotor tip caps... got to pee in a cup that night

Jet engines can survive a bird strike pretty well, but I have seen one torn up by a shop rag. Someone had left a rag laying on top of the wing. Sometime well into second shift the aircraft was pushed out for engine runs. The rag was sucked into the engine and got caught on the end of a turbine blade. It did not take much time to dispose of that cowling.
