I like his paint job...I want to paint mine like that. But instead of orange (or whatever), I want mine to be black there....

Should we tell them or let them compete for a while?

The Ram is indeed a LOT of Truck... A lot.... A lot... A lot...

More than you think...

A lot...

**********************

But, the Ridgeline is ALSO a truck... So is the Subaru Brat, the El Camino, the sport track, the Fronteir, and anything that looks like them...

Merriam-Webster defines a "truck" as...

3 : a wheeled vehicle for moving heavy articles: as a : a strong horse-drawn or automotive vehicle (as a pickup) for hauling b : a small barrow consisting of a rectangular frame having at one end a pair of handles and at the other end a pair of small heavy wheels and a projecting edge to slide under a load -- called also hand truck c : a small heavy rectangular frame supported on four wheels for moving heavy objects d : a small flat-topped car pushed or pulled by hand e : a shelved stand mounted on casters f : an automotive vehicle with a short chassis equipped with a swivel for attaching a trailer and used especially for the highway hauling of freight; also : a truck with attached trailer
4 a British : an open railroad freight car b : a swiveling carriage consisting of a frame with one or more pairs of wheels and springs to carry and guide one end (as of a railroad car) in turning sharp curves.

It would seem the qualification of body-on-frame as opposed to unibody, is not a required qualification to meet the definition of what a "truck" really is.

The Ridgeline might not be a big truck, it may not be as powerful as some trucks, (It's more powerful than the 4.6L F-150), it may be ugly, it may not use as much gas as other trucks, it may also have 5-star safety ratings, and it may be adequate for most homeowners who need a truck, but don't want one from the big three...

But, it's still a truck, like it or not... If it's got a bed behind the cab, it's a truck.

Yep, that was the "SUV" of the 80's...

We had a big-ol' Chevy Caprice Wagon.

It has an "enclosed" bed, so, that's closer to an SUV than it is a "truck".

I guess that's why Chevy refers to the Avalanche as an SUV, as opposed to a "truck". The coverd bed. I guess the mid-gate supports that decision too...

I respectfully disagree, and here is my reason:

I've seen many trucks (as I'm sure you have) where the owner purchases every single item in the LUND catalogue, and installs every freaking part LUND makes.

So then all of a sudden, you see this truck rolling out of the wal-mart parking lot with:
* Fake stick on hood scoops (with the paint not 100% correct because he did it himself to "save a few bucks")
* The little visor thingy that makes your truck look like it's wearing a baseball cap
* The stick on side windows grills (those things that cover up the side windows for the extended cab part)
* The great big louver thingy on the back window
* Gigantic, bigger than life bug deflector made of stainless
* Over sized rain gutter thingys on all 4 side windows
* the little itty bitty short chrome tail pipe part that sticks onto your exhaust pipe to make it looks like its chrome (but you can clearly see the part where it meets the old rusted pipe)

* And the gigantic rear window mural of the 3 deer standing next to a stream having a drink. The kind that covers the entire back window.
* Oh yeah, and the name "rockpick" airbrushed over the driver's door handle, and "bert" airbrushed over the passenger handle. (haha, just like old times)

All right seriously, any of those things are fine if that's what you like (even if you don't like it, that’s cool) but some guys go too far and slap everything on there and it can make a truck look (the only word that comes to mind is "white-trashy")

I think it takes a certain amount of skill, some taste, and a good eye to mod a truck so it finds the perfect balance. It's easy to go too far or not enough, and pick the wrong accessories.

So these are the reasons why I think not everyone can make a truck look badass regardless of how much money they have.

With that being said, I vote for my truck

ford considers the sport trac an suv also if you look at their site.

i consider anything that has a bed that is separate from the body to be a pickup
