Auto Transport Company

Do any of you know of a reputable auto transport company? My 97 year old grandfather needs his car transported from Florida back to Michigan when he goes back up. My uncle drove him down and flew back home back in November but my uncle has a winter place in FL now, too. He has his own vehicle to drive back and they are not going back to Michigan at the same time.

Thanks for any advice.

Check with a railway company. My sister-in-law had one moved across Canada on a train and it was fairly reasonable. She went through a moving company to get it setup and that's where I dropped the car off. I think it was Allied Moving or someone similar if I remember right.

Pick up a copy of Hemmings Motor News. It is a magazine for antique/collectible cars, and they have dozens of companies advertised.

I frequently see "Intercity Lines" trucks crossing the country on Interstates 70, 80, and 90. Their trucks always look well maintained and clean-if you value a first impression.

Whats he driving??? It is possible to haul cars in regular van trailers or on flat beds.

You might find a better deal if you shop around. Especially coming out of florida.

"They get a little desperate for outbound freight down there"

What cities in Florida and Michigan?

His car is a 2002 Buick Park Avenue. He is going from Haines City, FL to Ithaca, MI.

Ithaca is a VERY small town but it could be delivered by rail to a larger nearby city and someone can go pick it up.

Also check with a bank or car show enthusiest. My wife works as a collection agent and when she has a vehicle repoed in another state, she gets the vehicle shipped by guys with duallies towing those gooseneck trailers that carry 3-4 cars. Usually car guys will buy out of state and now how to get ahold of those carriers....

I say go with a rail company. The rates are usually less than any other type. The airline we are doing contract work for right now uses trains to haul shipments up north that the planes they have here cant carry.
