new cell phone

its time for a new one but I don't want to get screwed by sprint, I know they will credit me for a upgrade of $150 for 2 year agreement but I still will have to pay upfront for the phone. Any ideas on new phone or different company?

Sprint sucks ***!!!! I had them for nearly 6 years. Just before X-mas I switched to Alltell and have been pretty happy with them. I picked a cheapo phone
(Samsung A645) The phone is nothing special but it was the only one they had that didn't have all the stupid games and crap on it.

i had tracfone (embarassing i know) and was getting ripped off so i went to virgin mobile, got the Oystr

incredibly good phone for only $20. im on their prepaid 18c for first 10 mins of day then 10c the rest and 5c for all TXTs ingoing and outgoing.
minimum to pay is 20 dollars topup every 3 months. pretty good deal if you ask me

phone doesnt have camera, but it has music tones, graphics and wallpaper, games, the good stuff.

however if you dont like sprint's coverage dont go virgin mobile, theyre on their coverage area.
i get a max 2 out of 4 bars in my house out in the country. depends where you live i guess.

I have the Samsung A900M with Sprint. Very good phone, camera, MP3 player. Several of my coworkers got the A900M after their Razors/Katanas died.

This topic ranks right up there with all the political and religious threads. Everyone has their own opinion and no body is right. The only right answer for a phone, is to find the one that works for YOU. I had AT&T years ago and it got way to expensive. I switched to Verizon and for me, they sucked ballz. About 8 years ago I swiched to Nextel (Nexthell) since my job at the time was paying for it. It was good for a while and the two way feature is great. Over the last 2 years or more, the service has gotten real crappy in my area. Way to many dropped calls, no service and what service I did have was weak to say the least. I decided it was time to switch when I couldn't even use the phone in my house nor outside in my yard anymore. I switched to Sprint and I have to say, I love it. The service is great. I have full bars just about anywhere I go. Sure I hit a dead spot here and there while i'm traveling, but for the most part I never lose my signal. I also get my voice mails right away where with Nextel I would get them a week later. I have 2 phones on my plan with 700 or so shared minutes and unlimited texting on one and both have long distance, no roaming fees caller id, voice mail and call waiting and I pay about $70 a month. I never have to worry about other fees or charges or going over my text limit or long distance..

For ME, Sprint works great.

I got the Katana..it works well and holds up to some abuse. It's been tossed out of the truck a few times and still works great.

I switched from Sprint to Verizon several years ago. Crappy service with Sprint. Never a problem with Verizon to get service. Since I signed a 2 year contract I get a $100 credit every 2 years to use on a new phone.

I have been with Alltel for about 6 years now and I really can't complain about the service. I've always had great luck with Motorola phones. I've killed many other phones but the Moto's take all of my daily floggings and keep on working.

Motorola V710 through Alltel checking in.....
Video cam, cam, Mp3 player, video player, upgradeable memory card and sometimes it's a cell phone too.

Been with alltell for many many moons and would have to be a really sweet deal to get me to change. I have had everyother service offered in the area through work, they change carriers every year....

Chances are if your having trouble with Sprint in your area, it will continue. I had AT&T and went with Cingular when they took over. Ever since the switch, performance got so good we gave up our land line two years ago with no regrets. I can also tell you when you call them up you can generally get as good a deal as you want from them as far as free phones, activations and over night shipping.

My phone has been and is the standard candy bar Nokia. The only time one has failed on me? I was taking a hot bath during an extended phone call and a single drop of water slid off my ear to the key pad. Fried it within the hour.

We have had Verizon for a bunch of years---another reason we kept it was that they have good service where my daughter goes to college. There are very few areas in Ohio where I can't get comverage---(Marietta being one of them.) Other than that, our service has been pretty darn good.

But as somebody said, it is like politics or religion---to each, his own.

This post just validates my previous post. As I said, my nextel service sucked here and Sprint couldn't be better.

What I did and I suggest you do, is ask around and see what everyone in your area is using. See how they like it and how long they've been with them. I'm sure once a few people tell you their story, you will know exactly what phone and company to go with.
