Lariat?

hey guys, i tried searching for the answer but i just can't seem to find out what the word Lariat actually means. i have an 03 F150 Lariat and i'd like to know what it actually means. i know it's a package, but is that a guy's name or something? i'm wondering if it's something like Shelby or Roush or something. any info appreciated. thanks guys.

Just another word for lasso and since the 70s been the top of the line trim package on ford trucks.

Here are some rare original badges where you can see the rope design that for some reason my '84 was missing from the factory.

A handy google hint: Find out definitions by going to google.com and using "define:" in front of a word.

Example: "Define: lariat"

There were originally three trim packages but the Lariat is the only one still around.
The packages that are no longer made were called the:

Moeiat & Curlyiat.

hah thanks guys for clearing that up. seems like Ford went with some pretty bad-boy type packages for their trucks. Lariat and King Ranch and then the Harley Davidson. bikers and cowboys. heh.
