Armed Forces Competion

The Congress held a competetion of all the US armed forces to decide who will get the largest budget share for the next fiscal year. The challenge simple:To secure a beachead and a small building on the parcel.

The Army started with shelling, the howitzers rang for almost an hour. the Rangers went in with Apache's supporting the ground troops. The door was blown and the rooms cleared with weapons drawn.
Secure.

The Navy also started with shelling, the big 16 inchers howling overhead from a destroyer. The SEALS approached silently with their outboard-inflatables, NVG's and MP5's at the ready. The primacord attached to the door blew and they also cleared the house.
Secure.

The Marines arrived in fashion, LCAC's, Harriers, wave after wave of mena and machine, overwhelming the area and filling the beach with a sea of high and tights. The door was kicked down and the rooms cleared pne by one.
Sentries posted.
Secure

The USAF arrives after 0900, a citation bizjet lands on an nearby runway, a Captain and two Airmen disembark the aircraft.
20 Minutes later they have a three year lease with an option to buy.

Well, they may be smarter, but everyone else has more fun!

PS: Navy can't fire 16" off a destroyer... Only on the big battlewagons (Battleships) they, in a dumb-*** manner, saw fit to retire rather than upgrade...

Imagine a nuclear-powered, Iowa-class Battleship...

BBN-63 wouldda been a bad-*****-shut your mouth!

I can assure you this story is untrue. The USAF would not even consider this location unless it has a 4-5 star hotel, rental cars & nice restaurants close buy.

Why does every one hate on the airforce? OR is that just me? My uncle was in the airforce for 40 years, now I look up to him. He still gets paid from the airforce even though he retired out. I like the airforce

I have 24 years in the Navy. My son is in the Air Force. When he was 10 I took him on the Carrier for 5 days from Hawaii.... I think that is why he is in AF....

My Uncle was Air Force, too; retired with his Silver Chicken. Dad was AF; but (and I can still quote Pops after all these years) "...back before they decided they were to good to wear Army uniforms!" He forgave my oldest brother for joining the AF ("I know, you just want to fly"); he died before my sister's son joined (Systems/Network jock). Nobody wanted my blown-out knee in the late 70's, so I never got to test his attitudes. Too bad, I'd have been the 5th Gen in the Army - 1st Cav had those really cool Hueys and Cobras

Old Man admired the Navy; but would never have joined. He refused to ditch and flew another 40 miles to plant a 3-month-old gloriously aflame C-47 (with several feet of wingtip missing) on the beach 20 miles from the approach at Mildenhall in 1944; "Because I wanted to keep a couple pieces off the bird; and we didn't do a lot of swimming back home on the farm."

Oh by the way, in the version that I heard from my brother (he who is former AF); the Secretary of the Air Force called his Century 21 agent in to negotiate a 99 year no penalty lease with option to buy and maintenance rebates......

Our nephew wasn't amused.

People don't actually hate the Air Force truly, they are just somewhat jealous. You never find Air Force personnel leaving for another branch of service...but you always find other 'Branch' personnel coming into the Air Force.

We all respect each other when it comes down to it. It's a pleasure to serve with all of you who are in the Armed Forces. Thanks for your service!

Mom stayed home in New York (this was like 15-20 years before I was born); which was probably a good thing, since the Luftwaffe kept flying over and trying to blow up Mildenhall while Dad was there. Even bombed his tent (before barracks were built). If that and the C-47 reference weren't enough clues; Dad was there late 1942 - early '46. His third Gooney Bird was the newest in the Sqdn; so guess who got to install airline seats and haul Senior Staff (and the errant publicity-hungry Congressman) around after V-E day

EDIT: Just show my equinamity in poking at the other Branches:
Hey Marine Aviators! Especially you AV8B guys: Dad never crashed either - but two of his "hard landings" turned birds into scrap aluminum

Back when I was living in Charleston, the Air Force enlisted overflow were living in Navy officer housing. This was not a problem, except the Air Force guys were getting a stipend because Navy officer housing was substandard by Air Force standards.

I can understand why some people aren't happy with the Air Force!

A good landing is one you can walk away from.

A great landing is one you can re-use the airplane.
