honda got caught
i dont know it someone posted this but here it is.Honda odometers put on more milrs then they should http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...ter-usat_x.htm
It's interesting that the Hondas were closer to accurate on the low side than the high side. Not only do they save money by being a little more off on the high side, but the bragging rights are more impressive if the odo is off on the higher side.
I'm nowhere near goign over miles with my Acura, but, a little cushion doesn't hurt...
12 months, 9,900 miles, so far.
I read that on YaHoo last night... Apparently DOT has a +/- scale of 4%, which Honda was in, but on the low side, making cars show more miles than they actually had...
There should be no variance, but- if you change tires/rims and don't get your odo recalibrated, your speedo is off anyway. (Mine is off, and has been for the last 5 trucks...)

Everything in the world has some form of variation. Why not odometers? They've been this way for years. As long as they are within the + - everyting is fine.

Odometers vary + or - 4%, statistically 50% would read high and 50% would read low. But if I am reading this right, Honda's odometers usually read on the high side (more miles than traveled). I can definitely see a problem there.

I'm at 5 months, 28 days since delivery and I have 7200 on the odo. But the car sits most of the time, since it belongs to my wife and she's always at home with the baby, for now. Once she goes back to work, the miles will be rackin up again.
