Winches

I'm looking for a winch for my trailer, but maybe in the near future I may want to put it on my truck but I doubt it. I don't want nothing real big and expensive. I was wondering what should I look for other than a remote, roller fairlead, free spool, and a brake. Also it will probably be electric. Does the new summit ones from summit racing have what it takes? I wanted to spend no more than $600. Is this possible?

The only thing that goes on my trailer is cars and every now and then a friends truck or suv. But it would be nice to use a winch instead of trying to push it. Also everything always has tires and wheels on it.

most trailer stores sell trailer winches. i think they can be as cheap as $100 and up to $500 for electric but, you can also get a hand crank winch.

Redneck trailer supply in Carlisle normally has good prices.

Dont forget to look used. I picked up a Ramsey REP 8000 with the cable, synthetic rope and an aluminum hawse fairlead for $500.

That might be too lightweight for what you may be using it for, just throwing it out there.
