Angry Vent, bash on Proflowers/FedEx

My wife stays at home with the kid and I figure I earn more kudos points when she receives gifts in company of other women than just sending them on VDay when she is home alone. So I planned out that the flowers be sent to my wife at her MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers) meeting this morning.

So I hit up Proflowers.com last week and get a sweet deal. I realize I have to pay an extra $20 for morning delivery as she will be leaving around 11:30-12. No biggie, probably worth it. FedEx doesn't deliver until 1:52!!!!! according to the tracking receipt. Man I'm pissed.

Thing is I don't know if this is a FedEx problem or the shop's problem. The package was on the truck at 7:30 this morning for delivery. I shot off an email to Proflowers demanding a refund of at least my extra delivery fee, if not my whole order.

I should have tacked on another $60 for dinner at Red Lobster to make up for this crap. Next year I'm hitting up the guy down at the corner selling a dozen roses for $5 out of the back of his van.

I had a very similar issue with ProFlowers a couple years ago. The problem turned out to be with the shipper, but ProFlowers did the right thing and refunded my entire order. YMMV, of course, but that is one of the reasons I continue to use them.

Proflowers has always been good.

My one gripe with them and it is fundamental to the way they do business so I don't know of a way they could change it, is the way they are delivered.

From a florist the flowers arrive in the vase and arranged professionally.

Proflowers ships in a box, a nice box, but a box none the less and my wife has to arrange them herself. Takes away from the geewiz of the arrival.

Ah, I did not realize that. I heard about Proflowers on Mike and Mike in the morning and figured I'd give them a spin this year.

I tried the internet / mailorder flowers thing last V-Day and it was a mess. Long story short, the flowers never got to her. Needless to say it was very disappointing to her and I both.

When my brother had his kid, I did the same and sent flowers to the hospital. My mom called and asked me what I paid for them because although they were nice..she said they weren't worth more than $20. She knows i'm not cheap when it comes to doing stuff like that, so thats why she called and told me. I think I paid close to $100 for them.

This past Christmas I wanted to send flowers to my friend but swore I would never do it over the internet again. I called a florist close to her work, talked to them in person and picked out the Telefloral item I wanted off the internet and thats what they made me..minus the Telefloral charges. It was delivered on time and was a very nice piece. I just called the same place for V-Day and had them send over a dozen roses..Once again, on time and beautiful. She told me it was the nicest one in her entire office and all the other girls were jealous....Do you know how many points I got for that??

It's nice to be able to hop online and order something, but its just as easy to call a place and have them do it for you... which is what I do now and will always do from now on.

KSUWildcat..Sorry to hear what happened... hopefully you get your money back and the wife didn't kick you to the couch

I don't think that is always the case. I've used them dozens of times to send arrangements that include vases and they've always arrived "assembled." I've also used them to send roses and they did come in a box arranged with all the rose acoutrement stuff. It might be if you order just flowers they come in a box with self-assembly instructions.

These did have a vase.

The thing is I don't even know if she got them or not. Her phone has been off all afternoon and haven't been able to get in touch with her. I'm just hoping she doesn't have to go back tomorrow to pick up her Valentines day gift with no fanfare two days after the fact.

I think I might need to hit up UC and find some comfortable sleeping positions on the couch.

I've always shipped with a vase.

I just checked with the wife. She tells me they have always come with the individual stems in mini vials with water. The vase is at the bottom of the box.

She said that by far they are better flowers than the local florists and they last much longer. She prefers their flowers by far.

Scary!

Wow, this was really weird....

I sent my wife a bunch of weeds (aka roses) for V-day, to be delivered of course on V-day at her work. I specifically asked the person I dealt with on the phone regarding the current "snow storm" and if it would have any effect on the delivery, she said "no." Ok, cool, got a decent price on a nice package, but then I nearly hit the floor when she told me it was $25.00 for shipping....crap! But, what the heck, the little lady is worth it, whatever, order completed...

Well, the flowers have STILL not arrived...secondary to the snow storm we got. So, I called up today and talked it over with one of the people, she was very nice. However, they will not refund my order. Since the flowers are in transit and will be delivered eventually...the woman refunded my shipping costs and is sending me a voucher for the cost of the flowers I bought that I can use at any time. I guess thats fair...I dunno...

My wife will still get the flowers, maybe tomorrow, and I cna suprise her at work some other time on an off-day, free of charge, which will get me some "bonus points" with her, that always come in handy!

Well, sorry for the long story, but when I saw the title of this thread I laughed my butt off, as I just got off the phone with them like 30 minutes ago.

However I will DEF. will NOt use proflowers again!

ProFlowers is the only company I use. They last for a long time and if they don't they will send out replacements free. If you are not happy let them know and they take care of you. They even give 20% off your next order sometimes. I tried 1-800 flowers and they died fast.

I paid the extra $20 for a "Guaranteed Morning Delivery"

Turns out she didn't get them. Lady at the church called my wife and told here there is a package. She has to go back today and pick them up. Oh well, at least she found the whole thing funny and sweet.

I use 1-800- flowers and never had any complaints. They are delivered from a florsit in th area already in the vase and laid out..they have always delivered on time and were courteous when I called to ask them some questions....why would I want to send my gal a box of flowers???
