Sealing a boat deck...
If the transom is solid all you need to do is install a garboard drain plug. If the transom is not solid, meaning there is a gap between the transom wall on the inside of the boat and the transom on the outside of the boat, then you will have to install the brass tube and flare it.
Heres the garboard drain. All you do is drill the proper hole size, put some sealer on it and mount it with 3 screws.

My tube was aluminum and it just fell out one day when I pulled the plug.....
I went to teh marina and picked up one of these for like $10

Or you can get them here

It comes wit hbrass screws, install is easy,
Place drain on transom and mark holes.
Pre drill holes
Then just put a small bead of 3M brand, #5200 sealant on the plug, (can get it at wal mart) use the supplied brass screws and screw it in place.
Wipe off exess sealant imediatly with a rag moist with a mineral spirt or other solvent.

Damn it brew you beat me to it while I was typing instructions..............
Edited to add:
I do recomend pre drilling in fiberglass, I twisted one screw off installing mine and drill was only set on #2 setting.

Thanks guys.

That's what I need. I saw them the other day at a local shop, but wasn't sure about the use. I'll pick one up, and I wouldn't think about doing it without pre-drilling...
Brew/PSS, what is your opinion on using the bedliner instead of sealing and carpet?

As mentioned alot of companies are doing it now on brand new boats.
So it's not a bad thing.
The major disadvantage and the reson I wont do it, is because we play in my boat, tube, kneeboard, ski, swim, etc. So most the time we are barefoot in it. Carpet can get hot from the sun, but not as likely to as a bedliner is and bedliner would hold the heat in alot longer too.

Thanks all!
The bedliner stuff is a good idea, but I to, would be concerned about it holding heat and getting really hot. I like carpet because it looks neater and it cuts down on the noise of the rods and weights and all your gear getting tossed around in the boat.
See,,,I'm kinda **** about noise...I hate it, it drives me insane. So I will do anything to cut down on it.
Either way, it sounds like you just want to go out, catch a few fish and enjoy the boat with little or no hassle at all. So for you, I would say go with whatever is cheaper to do. They will both be fine.
