Synvisc? Knee problems?

Anybody on this board with knee problems? I had surgery to remove arthritis six years ago, and it is back. Eventually, I will "kneed" a knee replacement, but my MD is postponing the inevitable (he says that I am too young, and the pain is not severe enough.) Anybody here get SynVisc injections? I start them on Wednesday---once a week for three weeks...

I know someone who was getting cortisone injections. Kills the pain for a while, but eventually had to get surgury. I messed mine up pretty bad playing hockey. I just live with the pain, though eventually I will need to go for an operation on both of them.

The injections will just be a temp fix, and not a good one from what I have heard.

I tore my medial meniscus (sp?) in September '05, had it scoped in February '06. Still have some stiffness when it's cold, but otherwise it feels great. Recovery took about 7 days, didn't use crutches and the painkillers were worthless. I did lose about 2" from my vertical leap, which sucks, since my vertical leap was only 4" to start with.

Have you ever tried the products like Osteo-bi-flex?

My dad had both of his knees replaced last year. He said if he had done one at a time, he would live with the pain from the bad knee because he wouldnt have gone again. But, now he feels 100 times better and isnt fully healed. Good luck with everything...

How did the fire make the nail go in your leg? Did you get to pull it out with a claw hammer? I saw my uncle right after his surgery. It is terrible pain. He is doing better now.

I had arthroscopic surgery done six years ago to clean out the arthritis---he said that it would probably come back, but I was hoping that it wouldn't be this soon. I know I will need a knee replacement, but I want that later rather than sooner. Syn Visc is where the inject a synthetic viscosity into the knee---one injection at a time for three weeks. I sure hope that it works---

It will help a bit, but it only delays what has to be done.

With mine they get real stiff and sore if I strain them. Going up alot of stairs and pulling a loaded cart at work uphill

How about schlatter's disease in both knees & arithritis in both knees;bone spurs on both heels;arithritis on cervical vertebrae.
PLUS a connective tissue problem called DISH(my ligament & muscle connective tissue calcify).
800mg ibuprofin works like a champ.
