For the last few years i have had to pay taxes at the end of the year but i got lucky and didn't have to pay the penalty's. so, this year i adjusted it and now I'm getting over $2k back. i try to break even and have the extra cash in my pocket every payday.

Better than a state tax. No worries.

I would rather pay a sales tax on what I buy than an income tax anyday. Alos, I always prefer paying a small amount of Federal income tax when I file, means I have kept some of their money and used it. If I get a refund, means they have been using my money for free. The tax amount is the same either way, many peple have trouble seing that for some reason.

Hell, I pay 7.5% (county and state) sales tax and state income taxes. Texas and Florida have it straight.

I don't. That's how I've done it for years. I can't see giving anyone an interest free loan.

I was thinking the same thing, With state, city, and county sale taxes ours run 7.225%. I'd pay another .775% to not pay state tax on income. If I spent every dime I made in state, then thats only $240.25 a year.

Now if we can just get rid of property taxes, namely the school tax. That one really urked me when I didnt have kids. Now I can justrify it some.

That is what amazes me, you read so much about the poor state of the country, yet most are making more, living better.

Property taxes in Texas are through the roof to make up for the lack of state income tax.

That all depends on where you live.

I'm pretty sure this year it is the 17th due to a quirk in Federal law.

The 15th is a sunday
The 16th is a DC holiday...Patriot's day (i think)
Therefore the whole country gets to file on the 17th.

You can file an extension but if you owe I think you have to pay finance charges.. Not sure about that though
