Well, Budha was a big help for me Saturday. When he shows up today, I'm pretty sure he'll have an answer for both of us....unless someone beats him to it.

I hope so. It takes 30+ seconds for my toilet to flush completly. Then it takes forever for it to fill back up.

Sounds as if you need to replace the control valve. You can get one at Lowes or Depot for about $8 and takes about 10 minutes. While you are at it, you may want to change the flapper(stopper) too.

I had a 'slow to fill' toilet and replaced all the guts to no avail.

The toilet was old, so old the jets were corroded. At that point all you can do is jack up the tank lid and park a new toilet under it.

I wish that was the case with mine. Mine is a new toilet, new wax ring, and new guts, but it flushes slow. It's almost like it doesn't want to flush, and I have to hold the handle down a little bit to get it to "finish" the flush.

Aggravating.

You should be able to flip the handle, it should raise the flapper to full height, then it gradually drops back down as the water goes out. You should not have to hold the handle. Then, if your valve is working freely, it should fill up pretty quickly. If you have a shut off valve at the wall or in your line, make sure it is wide open.

The flapper is raising to full height. I hold the handle down to get the tank to empty into the bowl and get it to flush, but the water is just spinning in the bowl and slowly empties.

The toilet on the other side of the wall is good, so I dont think it's drain.

Bad toilet maybe?

Sure sounds like that may be the case.

Before you buy a new toilet, swap them.

If the toilet is not any good, it would make a nice KracKer planter for the front yard.

Man.....how redneck is that.

If all else fails, I'll just take this one back and get a new one.

Do you have any kids? (Sometimes Toys will find their way into the "trap" part of the bowl.. that will restrict the flow when you flush and cause a slow drain... esp. if a "female product" gets flushed and hung up in the trap.... surprisingly enough it'll still let the other waste pass through most of the time. Another issue could be TO MUCH water in the tank.... play with the float control or screw that controls the shut off on the fluid-master, and make sure that when you hit the lever to flush that the flapper (stopper) is lifting up completely and as the water drains into the bowl it should lower itself back down. One other thing.. Get a wire coat hanger and clean the pores/jets under the lip, sometimes it can have garbage from the casting left behind...just some thoughts and issues I found back in the days of being a "terd pusher" (aka Plumber)

Hope it helps!

Jamz, the slow flushing toilet thingy is kinda difficult to diagnose. Some of the low end water saver toilets will have this problem. One way is to adjust the guts; both the water level (the floating ball) and the flapper. The flapper you can adjust the line that connects the flapper to the lever, so you're getting the most leverage when you push down to flush and the higher the water level, the more water you'll get per flush thus giving you decent flush.

Alot of low end water saver toilets will take between 50 - 70 secs to refill but adjusting the water level will make that time longer and then you end up with the tingly numb legs on the "bad" days.

If you can return it, I say do it. There are some decent priced toilets that will advertise that they can handle large loads ( ) like 150ft of toilet paper or 30 golf *****. Look into how much more it'll cost to upgrade to one of those, it'll save your legs from getting numb.
