That is a shame. I hoped he would pull through. Had to be tough on those people.

Man thats sad. I was just reading the paper at lunch and there was a story about the recent hoof infection and they were going to keep trying. Guess it was old news.

Can they still make glue out of the hooves, even though there was an infection?

I'm just really skeptical of the entire thing. I worked on two horses five years ago with the exact same injuries he had and they got over it just fine and I guarantee they didn't have dedicated staff and million dollar surgeons.

I just really wonder if he had a good surgeon and a good medical staff. It really seems to me like he was "over treated" for his injuries.

Every injury is different, same thing with humans.

I know but we had a horse with laminitis and had to remove over 90% of the hoof. His wasn't that bad. The broken bones he had seemed like they did way too many surgeries to remove and place pins, but then again like you said, it all depends and I never read the exact details of his break. But our horse shattered the bone in 5 places, his could have been worse. Granted our horse never held a rider again. But he had plenty of good pasture years.

I'm not even talking about the abscess in his foot because I've seen about 50 of those and they're no big deal, unless it went all the way up.

Oh well.

Sheez, it's not like the President died or something, it was a horse.

What, Clinton's back in the White house? This is a dead horse thread. Stay on topic.

Is Jello gonna come out with signature flavors now--like barbaro blue-raspberry?

eh they were just keeping him alive (other than the fact that he was a beloved horse/pet...) just for the Stud fees- he wasn't going to race again.

It's always sad when an animal has to be euthanized.
