New F150 owner
New F150 owner
I just bought a 1998 F150 SC 4x4 XLT 5.4 offroad package with on 12,900 miles for $13,000. It is the light blue color and interior and exterior are in perfect shape. What do you guys think? A good deal?
First F150 for me. Just sold my loaded 05 nissan titan 4x4 crew cab. Awesome truck with incredible power and features but started squeaking and rattling a lot for a brand new truck plus I had water getting inside the cab and soaking the floorboard. Nissan's tech's could not fix a flat tire and their service was horrible so I got rid of it. I want to give them a few more years to learn how to build a truck before I try them again. Except for the few issues I was having I LOVED the truck.
Anyway, I have no truck payment now so that makes this F150 an even sweeter truck!

I'd be leary with that old of a truck with basically no miles on it. Sounds like it rolled off the lot and into someones garage and stayed there..... My 2000 has 98,XXX....
Becareful with it and treat it just like it is brand new. Dont hot rod it for a few more miles, be extremly easy on it, change the oil, then change it again in 500 miles, then again in 1000 miles. Then slowly start to work it a little bit at a time and start to drive it normally, then change the oil every 2000 after that.
Edited to add:
I'd probably also have the transmision flushed and a new filter put in and change teh differentials oil as well. Not becasue of miles but becsaue it is old and has been exposed to the air already so has started to break down and seperate.

Nothing harder on a vehicle than sitting.... Thats the worst thing that can ever be done to them. I'd almost rather have yours with those miles.
