Newb to the site

So heres my newb intro post. Lets see, what information might ya'll want....

I'm from Michigan, Lansing to be more specific... Currently driving *gulp* a '99 Chevy S-10 ZR2............ for a daily beater... But my current Ford is my 86 Mustang I have been building and playing with, and with my S-10 almost paid off, its time to upgrade to a fullsize, and I'm leaning hard towards an F-150, so I figured its time to join a site and learn up on em. Looking for an '00-'03 fullsize 150, 5.4 2wd truck that I can play with, daily drive, and pull my Mustang back and forth to the dragstrip

So don't mind me as I lurk the board, or ask questions... And heres some eye candy for ya,

Thats what I need it to tow

Welcome, anything you could ever hope to know about Ford trucks can be found here, the good the bad and the ugly of them. Unlike other forums we arent afraid to discuss what could or should be changed, but overall really like our choice. As a former bowtie man, I can say I have never been happier with any of my other vehicles as I am this one.

Welcome to the site, anything you want to know just ask.... after you have tried the search button.

Talking Welcome!

welcome to the club! I believe you would want to go with a 3 valve 5.4L engine. I'm not sure what year it came out, but you might want to do a search, and get a model with the 3v. Glad to have you!

P.S. That's a great looking mustang! I love the pre-87's. Very nice!

Nice four-eye. For towing a car, I would definitely stick with an 04+ F-150 equipped with the 5.4L 3V V8. The 2V that Ford used before that in previous model years can tow, but if it makes financial sense for you, go for the 04+. I towed a trailer with 5 quads on it several times with my old truck (02 Supercrew) and it did fine. However when I pulled that same trailer with my '05 Lariat it did WAY better. I speak from experience.

Yeah - I love the 04+'s, but I don't think at 21y/o, a single male w/ 1 accident and no tickets will be treated to some lube by my insurance company before they rape me with the monthly bill.

Thats why I am leaning towards the last years of the previous generation, I've always loved em. They have a nice street truck/hotrod appearance too them that I have always been a fan of. But the more I read I am kind of partial to the 4.6 now as well. So many choices!

When I was looking for a newer vehicle I used State Farm's Online quote deal, and progressive's. I was shocked to say the least that my 01 Ranger I had was more expensive to insure than a 03 Ranger, and a 04 150. I was also surprised that Ford is cheaper to insure than GMC, Chevy, and dodge. Sometimes a newer vehicle is a little cheaper than a older one.

I'd certainly recommend finding one with at 4.6 and a 5.4 and test driving before you make your decision.

That's right. get the push rod 5.0 motor, then you can scavage parts for the
'stang at the track! And if you see mine on a trailer call the cops, 'cause someone stole it.
