basically you have to check everything......

anything you carry on the plane has to be less than 3oz (I think) plus all the stuff has to fit in a small zip lock bag that they will give you.

IMO just check everything and you won't have to worry about it.

haha well I havn't had much bad luck with the luggage it's more ontime arrival of flights...

Just the other day I missed a flight because Skywest/delta are numnuts and the plane I was supposed to get on was 2hrs late therefore I was 2hrs + late making it into SLC where I was supposed to change planes...missed it by 15minutes. Of course they say hurry to the gate you might make it! yeah I ran across the whole damn airport and no ****ing plane. I was pissed. they put me up in a room for the night and flew me out in the morning and suprisingly my luggage made it the whole way!
