Is Consumer Reports really any good?

Consumer reports had to print a retraction on a test of child car seats "they" did. Seems the test veicle was going a lot faster that was reported.

So, what the NHTSA is saying is that Consumer Reports is FOS.

Nothing new there. Hell, they about crippled Isuzu and Suzuki in the US for those garbage roll over tests. I hope Consumer Reports gets sued into the stone age by the manufacturers of those car seats that "failed" under "their" tests.

Yeah, consumer reports has been getting their buts kicked over the last 48 hours. They just "Dan Rathered" the hell out of themselves.

Credibility is not questioned when you have it, but once you lose it- it's hell to get it back.

Nevertheless, I will say those tests they did, whether they cripped Isuzu & Suzuki or not, I believe, have given us all safer vehicles- thanks to their non-standard off-set head on test, and I doubt any SUV would survive a rollover (without crushing the heads of its occupants) before they did that...

Now, the Volvo XC-90 can stand on it's head, and not collapse.

You "Effed" up on the baby seat test CR, but I still think you have done more good than you have harm..

I use Consumer Reports for all my major purchases. It can't hurt. I love the Washer and Dryer I picked basked on their reviews.

Sorry to hear that.

CR lost their credibility years ago.

If CR has lost its credibility, who would you say is more credible at ranking short and longterm reliability for new and used cars? I'm a subscriber, and certainly don't think that their publication is the bible or anything, but it does many more times then not give you a good place to start to educate yourself when making any relatively large purchase.
