Back in the USMC days, as we were heading out for a 30 miler with loaded rucks (80 + lbs), the guy behind me whispers:

"Whatever you do, don't start thinking about the Gilligan's Island Theme Song"

At the end of the day, about four of us wanted to find him and whoop his a$$.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...

SuperBowl Shuffle: Chicago Bears, 1985.

SuperBowl Shuffle: Chicago Bears, 1985.

We are the Bears' shuffling crew
Shuffling on down, doing it for you...

I'm really surprised that since "Da Bears" are going back to the SuperBowl for the first time since 1985, that that song hasn't been on TV...

Might be on WGN, but I haven't had time to look at WGN to see.

Mike "Samurai" Singletary

I'm Samurai Mike I stop 'em cold
Heart of the Defense, Big & Bold...
I've been jammin' for quite a while,
Doing what's right and setting the style,
Give me a chance, I'll rock you good,
Ain't nobody messin' in my neighborhood.
I didn't come here looking for trouble,
I just came to do The Super Bowl Shuffle

William "The Refrigerator" Perry

You're lookin' at the Fridge,
I'm the rookie.
I may be large, but I'm no dumb cookie.
You've seen me hit, you've seen me run,
When I kick and pass, we'll have more fun.
I can dance, you will see,
The others, they all learn from me.
I don't come here looking for trouble,
I just came here to do
The Super Bowl Shuffle.

80 lbs ruck?!

You guys are crazy! We had to do the 15 mile force march in under 4 hours with a 40 lbs ruck sack, full battle-rattle, steel pot (I'm tellign my age) and the M-16...

We started at 4:00 AM Sunday morning: took a 10-15 minute break around 5:30 (It was FREEZING COLD THAT MORNING, DRILLs Wouldn't let us wear our field jackets, said we'd over heat... They were right!) Regrouped and continued the march / airborne shuffle... Up drag-*** hill, and on to our barracks (C. Co. 2/28th Inf. Reg- "Black Lions")

We marched into the AO at 7:32 AM. Dropped the rucks and sprinted to the chow hall for breakfast, soaking wet with sweat, and happier than a ****** in jail, because we were 4-days away from graduating Basic training.

We didn't get Kevlar helmets until 1990. My first 3 years in, we had steel pots, with the liner. Made a good hammer when you found yourself in need of one.
