Should I get my dog fixed?
Should I get my dog fixed?
I want to get my 4 year old golden retriever fixed, but I am afraid it will change here attitude. I have been told it will, and I have been told it wont.If any of you have any advice for me that would be great. Here is the only picture I have of her on my computer right now.
If she were mine, I would. Normally, the only changes are positive. The become calmer and sweeter after being spayed. Is that a Rat Terrier with her? Sure looks like one.

If you don't plan to breed her, I would deff. get her fixed. AS Blue said, she will be a calmer, sweeter dog. And from what I understand, it's better for their health. Not sure if thats a myth or not, but I've heard it a few times.

I have always had female dogs and had them spayed, normally after 1 litter. It has always been a positive change in their personality and calmed them down. I have heard that it is very stressful for female dog to come in heat and that is easier on them if you have them fixed.
I can't image her being any more calm then she already is. We have had her since my first son was a year old and she was only a year old. They are both 4 now. She was given to us because the people that had her was having a baby and didn't know how she would act with kids. She was great with him for her still being a young dog, and now we have a new born and i want to make sure she don't change.

If yo are not going to breed her, get her spayed. I have males now (all neutered) but the two females that I had before---didn't change anything about them. But it does reduce the risk of various diseases. The dog has a healthier life.

I probably will get her spayed for a couple of reasons.
1. I don't plan on breeding her ( even though she is a pure breed with papers )
2. I hate cleaning up blood
3. Right before Thanksgiving we rescued another dog ( Male of course ) he is just a pup now but he is alreading trying to do the dead. Here he is.
