Painting walls...what roller to use??

Yeh,,,so I'd rather shave the hair off of Martha Stewarts back then paint my room, but it must be done. I'm in the middle of a bedroom remodel and have brand new sheetrock, drywall, wallboard..whatever you guys call it *coughBudhacough* and I'm getting ready to paint. Since I hate doing it, I never really pay attention to the materials or anything I've ever used in the past. I just go to Home Creepo and buy the cheapest rollers, roll some paint on the walls and call it a day. However..I'm bored right now and got thinking of all the different rollers I looked at last night ( none of which I bought ) and was wondering..does it really make that much of a difference?

So..what nap should I use for the primer? What nap roller should I use for the paint?

If it matters, like I said its brand new sheetrock and Flat paint.

Just wad up a old pair of jocky shorts and swipe it on. By the time you get through, no one will be able to tell the difference.

What type of texture is on the wall? smooth, orange peel (splatter), knockdown (Monterrey drag) or some other northern yankee thing?

Being around painters on jobsites, they use different naps for different types of textures....so start off there.

A roller consists of a handle, a cage and a roller cover, also known as a sleeve. Here's how to pick a quality paint roller for the job.
Instructions

STEP 1: Choose a handle made of steel and equipped with a plastic grip that is threaded to accommodate an extension pole.

STEP 2: Be sure the cage allows for easy roller cover replacement.

STEP 3: Check to be sure roller cover will stay in place on the cage and will not slide off.

STEP 4: If you'll be using oil-based paint, choose a roller cover made from natural fibers, such as sheepskin, lamb's wool, or mohair. You can also use a synthetic-fiber roller cover.

STEP 5: If you'll be using water-based (latex) paint, use a cover made of synthetic fibers.

STEP 6: Choose a roller cover with dense fibers. For fiber length, the rule to remember is the smoother the surface, the shorter the fiber length should be.

Tips & Warnings

Choose smaller rollers for trim and small areas.

Choose 9-inch-long rollers for painting walls and ceilings.

When selecting a roller, also purchase a roller tray or a roller grid (or screen).

Buying an inexpensive roller is not recommended - cheap rollers cause paint to splatter. It's best to spend a few more dollars for a better roller rather than spending more time and money fixing a sloppy paint job. You'll inevitably end up buying a better roller anyway.

Ok, you hung the s/r. You had the joints and screw/nail heads taped and floated right? So you're just gonna paint the walls as they stand? You guys are the weird ones.

Then I suggest a 4" wide brush and get to work.

Yes s/r is up, taped and "floated" Mudded as we say here..LOL

It will be sanded all smooth and ready for paint tomorrow night. And why do I believe you would really use a brush to paint an entire room??
