Last one for a little while...

I'd been wanting a higher caliber rifle for a while so I broke down and ordered a model 710 in 30-06

Nice Gun, I've been wanting a Remington like that in a .270 caliber, great for deer hunting, about how much did you pay for it?

It was $359 + tax and 4% fee for using my credit card. I brought it home along with a box of ammo for right around $400

I bought myself a Christmas present also, the same model 710, in .243 caliber at Academy Sports for $299. I already have a .270, but this one will make a great back-up deer rifle, and an excellent coyote gun with 80 grain ammo! VERY flat shooting gun. Enjoy!

I've had that same rifle for abot 2 years now. Great rifle. I'm sure you'll be quite pleased with it.

Ugh, I wish I could say I broke down and spent $400 on a new rifle

Last week I broke down and spent $350 in ammo. Don't ask how many figures my Christmas present to myself cost...

Thats nice. I saw one at Bass Pro in the black stock.

My mission this year is to buy the Beretta Xtreama 3.5 shot gun

That's what I was buying for... I got one hell of a blister after hand priming 700+ cases :o , almost halfway done

I still have prolly 10K M855 in the locker in mags, but I play with the ones I roll ...

I've got a Savage equivalent.... Not real fond of the composite stock though... the thing kicks like a damn bucking bronco!! I can only shoulder it for about 10 rounds and then I can't raise my arm above my shoulder for two weeks!!

I have the Winchester equivalent in 7mm magnum. The thing kicks like a mule! Between the recoil and the ammo cost, I don't shoot it for fun much. For fun and cheap shooting, SKS > *. An SKS is so cheap you can shoot 1,000 rounds through it and throw it away!

I shoot my AR-15 for blasting away at things. I'll probably get a 10/22 sometime for plinking. But I'm getting into reloading so cost won't be as bad.

Plus the 30-06 is such a common cartridge that it isn't too terribly expensive.

I don't expect to run a ton of ammo through it as I'm guessing I'll end up with a sore shoulder!

My Ar sees 1000-1500 rounds on a good weekend, but the 30-06 is what I shoot when I DO have a sore shoulder. It spits out a puny little 168 gr bullet @ roughly 3000 fps.

If you wanna get serious, get yourself a 45-70 and start casting some 300+ gr bullets. Just don't try to shoot it from a bench.... or you'll have more than a sore shoulder
