And everyone was saying that Petrino and Saban would stay put and Rodriguez was going to be the only one to jump ship this year.
Huh? Guess a lot of people (including ESPN) were wrong....

I don't know why these college coaches keep trying to coach in the NFL. Almost every one fails and ends up returning to college after a few years. I don't understand it, especially since the pay is about equal now-a-days.

Yeah, its sad to see him go. We have an excellent athletic director here, Tom Jurich. Believe me he seen this coming and Iam sure he already has a replacement he wants. He's come through time and time again.
Now the bigger question is whether Junior QB-Brohm will go pro. Another key player will be our Heisman trophy contender Michael Bush, he broke his leg in the first game this year and was red shirted. We're all waiting to see what he will decide to do also. Iam guessing with Petrino leaving, they both will leave too.
We do have one of the better rated QB's coming to Louisville next year. He is the son of some QB that played in the NFL and may have won a Super Bowl. I believe his name is Phil Simms...........LOL.
Its a shame our one loss this year came in the final seconds of the game when Rutgers was kicking that field goal, he missed, but one of our players jumped offsides and they rekicked it and made it............uuuughhh!!
Oh well, first thing first, we need a new coach......any takers, lol.

I wasn't expecting this. I like Louisville and they are my #2 team but I really don't wanna go through the "looking for a new head coach" stage again. The situation at Bama was so damn stressful but we got a hell of a coach in Saben. Louisville is at an all time high right now so I'm sure they won't have any difficulty hiring a new coach.

Funny 'Bama was flirting with Rodriguez (born in raised in Grant Town, WV) and Saban (born and raised in Monongah, WV). Both within 5 minutes of my home.
Maybe I should become a coach, see who wants to hire another Marion County guy...

BTW it is Saban, not Saben. Come on now, he's your new coach!!!

Word is that Steve Kragthorpe is the leading candidate for the Louisville job. He is a great coach who has done wonders at Tulsa and is greatly underpaid, but happy at Tulsa.

The irony about coaching is that they get hired to either eventually get fired (if the lose too often) or get hired elswhere (if they are too successful.) I would stay in the college ranks---you can recruit and do not have to worry about getting stuck with draft choices...

(I like the college game more anyways...)

Oh, one other thing---GO BUCKS!

I don't think the pay is equal. Most colleges can't afford to pay NFL type salaries. Steve Spurrier was paid about five million to coach the Redskins and I can guarantee you that he doesn't make that at South Carolina. Also, the allure of having a chance to prove yourself at the next level.

Not all programs can pay salaries like the NFL, but some do. Alabama just made a deal with Saban to pay him 4+ million a year. Others are around 2-3 million a year.
