A friend of mine had a son that worked at a high end home theater store, he did installs in rich people's houses. Anyway, when I got my Denon HT receiver I got all the A/V/optical cables from him for nothing. I went from a 4 channel teac stereo receiver to a 6.1 denon HT receiver, and with those good cables man, the difference was clear, and having the 6 speakers sure makes the movies come to life. It's true, you get what you pay for with that stuff.

yea I ussually subscribe to the you get what you pay for theory too. But after setting up stadium sound for so long and had bought the high end mic cables and sound board snakes, I really couldn't tell a difference between them and a mid priced sets. The mid priced ussually lasted longer and held up to more abuse thant the cheap stuff, but the high end didnt last anylonger or perform any better than the mid.
With that stuff we are talking a 100', 32 channel sound board snake cable, the cheap end is $300+. (so next time you are at a concert and you step on that strange piece of duct tape on the floor running from the stage.... know that you just stepped on probably $5000+... LOL)
Because of my experince there, I had fallen into a cable is a cable and gold plating dosen't really help anything except to raise the price.
Yea if they were given to me I'd used them, but if someone gave me cheapies I'd used them too.

Looks like a bunch of big and expensive boats. I'm in. Hey Matt, let me know if you're going and have room for an extra...

Isn't technology great, the minute I think I'm all caught up they come out with all this fancy new stuff and I'm in the dark ages again!! We've got monster cables and all that. I couldn't believe the difference S-video made over standard RCA cables but the one that floored me was the change from Cable TV to Satellite...Wow!! I didn't know what a sharp clear picture was all those years on cable! I'm still about 3-4 years behind times but I'm happy with what we have for now.
