Question any skiers here?

so, got a brand spankin new set of 180cm Atomics& bindings, Salomon X-Wave 7.0 boots for Christmas from mom- have skied since i was 8 (23 now) but always rented as you're growing yada yada yada-
well, I'm taking them out for their inaugural run next week- do i need to get them waxed, or is the 1-3 layer factory base enough??
if so, what do you recommend!?

I cant answer your question about the wax, but I got back today from my ski vacation. My friend and his wife had brand new skies and didnt wax them and I think they worked out fine for them.

Well, first I'd clay it, then cleaner wax step 1, polish step 2, then caranuba step 3, followed by a coat of #7, then #26, and a coat of NXT 12 hours later. But seriously, I'm more of a water skiier.

I like to ski, but nothing major. I always just rent when I go, so I can't answer about the waxing either.

Have fun!

The only waxing I do is when I ski, as in busting my ****.

you'll be fine with the factory wax for the first few times you go, see how they feel, and wax as needed. thats what i did.

Oh yeah...I love skiing that's one of the main reasons I went with a 4X4 truck to replace my mustang.

I just got some new boots for this season hoping to take them out to the local ski resort (it sucks) and break them in a little. I am going to Jackson Hole, WY for 5 nights in a little over a week! It can't come soon enough!

anyway heres a pic of the new boots

well took my boots out for the first time yesterday. I just went to the local crappy ski resort but it was enough to get an idea of how they felt and to sorta start the break in process. The first 4 runs were pretty painfull. I went and bought some advil took 800mg and drank a beer and after that I was money. after the day was over I was pleased and feel comfortable that these were in fact the right boots for me.

now I just have to get through this week of work and I am off to Jackson Hole, WY for 5 days of skiing!! I can't wait.
