I hate when my gf is right about my truck
I hate when my gf is right about my truck
Here's a quick story that may teach others to listen to their significant others with truck advice. About 3 months ago I replaced my pads and rotors (with the help of my gf's father). Recently, I developed a grinding noise on hard braking, it sounded like my pads were completely worn. I pulled 3 wheels and everything looked perfect. I told my gf what I had done and of course she rationally replied, "why didn't you pull the last wheel?" Of course I should have but I assumed it would have revealed the same and I got lazy. Well, recently I came to my senses and decided to pull the remaining wheel. The backing plate had loosened from the outside pad and was grinding on the rotor. After a quick pad change all is well, it even stopped a clunking sound I had when I would accelerate from a stop. I guess that's what I get for getting involved with a mechanic's daughter.

But seriously tho, never hurts to do a check up on your own work after a while a month or so.

Not sure that mechanics daughter had anything to do with it.
You had 4 possibilities for a root cause, you checked 3 of them, I'd say it was process of elimination. She played the odds, that if one of 4 was bad, 3 were good, then odds are it is the last one.
