my dog is fighting through some adversity right now
my buddy pugsley, 8-year old lab/pit mix, is on 4 different medications right now getting through a tough month
after rats chewed through the fuel injection line on our mustang, we had an exterminator come out, but apparently there was miscommunication and she left rat poison out where pugsley could access it...he ate a bunch and luckily, i found him immediately after, so he was getting over that when we took him back home for christmas
a friend's chocolate lab and mixed-breed dogs unexpectedly attacked him while in the back yard, and he got a bad 2.5" laceration deep into his ear canal, so he had to be sewn up...what the emergency vet thought was a swollen lymph gland under his ear turned out to be a damaged salivary gland, and now he's really swollen up bad and draining fluid out of his ear and all over his 'lampshade' device
although i've always appreciated my scars and subscribed to the 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' philosophy, it's hard to see him like this
poor buddy has been through a lot, missing a canine from being run over, the rat poison, the ear
any animal people, think about him for me
thanks

That tail waggin' means a great deal to you and me---even when they are ill they still love ya to pieces. Never, do they think about themselves---hang in there---your boy will be better soon.

God Bless Pugsley!
I have one too, and I know that you need him as much as he needs you...
Just keep loving him, he will sense that and use YOUR strength along with his own to try to get better, knowing you need him and love him.
I have a 3-year old male Beagle named Sam, and I just don't know what I would do without that happy waggy little tail underfoot all the time.
Don't they give SO MUCH MORE back to us than we ever give to them???

thanks for the support fellas
we had to go to the emergency vet again today, looks like pugsley is going to need to have his salivary gland surgically removed by a specialist...we'll find out for sure after the year
i'll let y'all know how it goes
pugsley is such a sweet dog, i kind of wish we'd had his little (big) brother, quilo, with him the night he was attacked...quilo's part malamute and his mommy was a 100+lb timber wolf--he's a magnificent animal, very shy and peaceful, but extremely protective of his pack, and he's been looking out for his big brother since he was about 6 weeks old
