Question about printer sharing

I just got a new HP printer and installed it on my desktop. I checked the box that said share printer and my laptop cant see the printer. I dont remember having to do anything else on the last printer I had and it worked without problems.

Any ideas?

Did you install the drivers on your laptop, and how did you connect the printer?

I assume the laptop and desktop are networked. I think you may have to go to add printer and look up the network printer. If you have already done this, you may have to install the drivers on your laptop. Guessing a bit since I don't have a network or network printer from home.

you have to turn on printer sharing on the computer that the printer is hooked up to go in to the control panel the printers somewere in there you turn on printer sharing. one more thing most all in one printers (printer scaner all in one) will not do printer sharing you will not need to install anything on the laptop as long as both computers are running the same version of windows
