88% the man I used to be-

Gym update.

As I've told you guys before, at my peak, I was able to bench-press 440 lbs. Well, I decided to see what I could do last night, unfortunately, I didn't decide this until I had already done four sets of eight on the incline and four sets of eight on the decline bench with 180 lbs (what I normally workout with). When I moved to the flat banch, someone had left it racked with 295 lbs on it. So, I decided to work in a set at that weight. I did one set of eight at 295, and it felt pretty good. My trick shoulder was feeling pretty good too, so I decided to take off the 15 lb plate, and add a 45 in its place, for a total of 355.

I unracked it, and it felt pretty good. First rep felt good, second rep felt OK, third rep she got heavy, so I had to put 'er down.

So, I'm not quite back to where I was in 1994, but I feel pretty good making it this far, this fast- because I've been kinda doing half of a half-@$$ work-out since Thanksgiving. It's hard to get back into the gym, full on, especially when you don't have a workout partner to keep you motivated when you feel like slacking.

But, I'm on my way. If I hadn't done all those reps earlier, I may have been able to do four 45's on each side.

I'll probably try that in another few weeks. Besides, it's not like I'm gonna win a trophy or anything. But, I will know that in some ways, I'm still as strong as I ever was.

Well you bench about 3 times what I can...but I'm a weak computer geek. Actually last time I tried I think I was up to 160 or so but I can't swear to it.

No wonder you go by "Big"hersh.

I just started going to the gym. I have an olympic set at home, but there is just alot more motivation by going to a place where you can see results around you.

I'm just starting to do my 3X10s on bench at 150lbs. and if I ever make it to the 300lb. mark, it will be enough for me. 400lb. would be scary. In fact, I don't want to be that strong or I'd talk even more smack than I do now. No need for that.

You should take some pictures of you now, and then take some when you reach your goals. (I'm thinking you are on a complete mission here to drop fat and gain muscle, aren't you?)

OK, Ok, that is not so bad, I read the title of the thread and thought to myself, Hersh is going to try to tell us he got circumsised.

Those are numbers I can't even fathom.

For some reason I have no upper body strength. Never have. (Lower body however . . . I have legs of steel.) Even though I've lost a ton of weight and built a good deal of muscle . . . no way could I press that amount. My arms are finally looking toned and there's lots of muscle, but bench press . . . maybe 130 (that's three sets of 15). I can't even do push-ups. Never have been able to. Maybe it's the way I'm built or something. Never understood it.

For the time being I not allowed to lift more than 20 lbs. (by order of doctor) for the next 3 weeks. I'm starting back at the gym tomorrow with my trainer (4 weeks ahead of schedule). Slowly I'll be getting back to that 130, THEN I'll work toward 300!!!

Very Impressive!
I usually only lift 16oz at a time but sometimes I do 32oz if I am feeling especially manly!
I couldn't imagine benching those kinds of numbers! Keep it up!

Well I'm up to 210 on bench. I am at 355 in squat. I am 17 years old. I think I;m going to have to stop squating even though I hate to. It is starting to hurt my back a little bit. I think over Christmas break it should give me enough time to recover but man sometimes it hurts my back.

I'm 17 also. I dont squat or deadlift heavy anymore, Dont want to be old and in pain. I usually keep everything between 8-10 reps, sometimes down to 6 if I'm pumped.
