Need Honest Brutal Thoughts On This Toolbox

http://www.theverticaltoolbox.com/

I would like your honest BRUTAL opinion on what you think of this.

The advantage is it rolls easily completely full of tools.and you open the doors and see all your tools, instead of hunting through the drawers (like me) for tools.

HONEST THOUGHTS?

not all tools hang easy, no place for junk, needs excessive space to open doors-slide tools out, not user friendly- no thank you

No big drawer on bottom for oversized items? Sounds like an innovative idea, but not for me. It would also be a pain to use when standing (kneeling all the time).

it looks different but not very user friendly.

most people keep their sockets and wrenches in a rack so they can be picked up as a set and carried to where you are working. there isn't any space for small things and it takes up alot of space for the small amount of tool it will hold.

if you want to hang up some tools get some peg board or an add on cabinet for a regular tool box.

Wouldn't be just easier and cheaper to organize the tool box you have? If you are hunting through drawers for tools now, it prob ably means you jsut throw them in the box when you are done, what makes you so sure you'll be disciplined enough to hang them where they will be easily found? Just my .02

It looks good in practice, in reality, I think it leaves a lot to be desired of.

There's no storage for larger, bulky items.

Most of the tools are slung down low, meaning my fat *** would have to crouch and bend over to get to them, especially ones towards the rear of the cabinet.

The cabinet is only 20" deep which limits actual storage room, and I think if you were to hang heavier things on the vertical racks, given it's lack of depth, with two or three vertical racks extended at the same time, it's possible that the toolbox could tip over, throwing everything in the floor and maybe falling on you.

And I'm not sure, but looking at the pictures, the construction seems to be rather flimsy, with thin metal. Rolling it to and from here and there would probably break the welds holding the thing together, making the toolbox about as stiff as a wet noodle. What's their definition of "heavy gage steel?"

I'm sure that rig would probably work just fine for the average guy at home, but I look at tools and toolboxes from a heavy use, professional standpoint.

forgot to add:

The picture is a prototype, the final project is strong and steardy. All the corners are reinforced. you don't have to worry about it being flimsy... trust me.

Several people (here and other sites) mentioned it is too low.

what about adding a cabinet under it for large stuff (power tools) and having this on top?

If you mounted it in the bed of your truck I could see two potential problems:

* You'd hear the damn tools swaying around back there as you drove down the road.
* You'd open the doors one day and find that all the tools had fallen off their hooks and were laying in a disorganized mess at the bottom of the box.

Decent concept, but only for certain tools, and probably more workable in a shop environment.

What concerns me most is the lock.

If I had a toolbox without a substantial lock, my neighbors could access it and get all their tools back.

that's a tough one, but I'm going to have to say no.

I appreciate the value of having the tools hang like they do, but I dont thin it's worth the loss of visibility. I think pulling out a normal drawer and looking inside is much easier, as long as you keep stuff organized and dont have your 13MM wrench in the wrong draw.er

I think a bottom cabinet with conventional drawers and maybe putting that vertical cabinet on top of that would be more practical.
