A Soldier From Iraq Wrote This...
My cousin is going back for his second year long tour in Iraq. I got a chance to see him over Thanksgiving. His buddy was killed just before they came home from the last tour, and many of his company got to attend his funeral. Guess who shows up with his ignorant protesters? That's right. Fred Felcher Phelps.
This is a myspace blog from my cousin who is having severe depression problems over people like Fred.

Better to have sinned and died of your own accord than to live only to lie to every soul you pass in the street... and in the mirror. Let every man proclaim such a creed until he too meets some such end. At least he will have his dignity 'til that day. For a life of servitude bears with it a certain nobility which is not easily stripped. It lends pride to family and friend alike. And he keeps his honor and his dignity 'til that day.
But when the day does come all who loved him will gather to feel indebted, broken, hollow. They will hold and console one another. They will tell tales of days filled with him. And they will listen. They will listen to the march of a distant horde steadily drawing nearer. From the horizon hails a horrific mob of deceit and injustice. They are well-dressed, articulate, and promptly versed in psycho-babble. Worst of all, uninvited.
Adorned with massive pickets, they've come in Sunday best to spit at your man and all for which he stood. The mob waves a Christian banner. They seek to call you necromancers in the way you worship him in this state. Smug, round, contented faces glower at his viewers in disgust, as if to wonder why you're even here. It's the mob's goal to sway you to cease, to desist, and to follow them. Win some hearts. And they'll tell you your man is burning for his life of simple servitude. He catered to sinners, murderers, but most importantly, sodomites, they'll say. And in this fashion, potential converts tend to grow quickly into frenetic foes. But don't get upset; they're only here to save you from yourselves. Fear not. Just listen. You'll need an interpreter though. They speak in tongues indiscernible by nearly every accord.
Through painstaking effort a loose variation of their tirade has been formulated:
"We've come to share our views with you. We believe this man is inherently evil because he represented a nation which promotes boy-on-boy love, pre- and extramarital sex, and... and freedom, for God's sake. And we just don't like that. You should think the way we do. If our childish behavior and massive posters don't convince you, then please visit our website--www.godhatesfags.com--and maybe the rest of our mindless congregation can enlighten you. We hate and mock you for attending this display of necromancy, but please, listen and believe as we do. Again, this man will burn for upholding the gay man's right to love men, the perv's right to buy ****, the empty man's right to idolize and deify celebrities. Oh! And, umm... MY *******ING RIGHT TO STAND HERE, PROTEST, AND INFINITELY OFFEND EVERYONE WITHIN A SIX-MILE RADIUS!! So we'll stand here and embrace our morbid hypocrisy, because we don't see the irony trampling us like Clydesdales. Don't forget, we're ruining it for Christians all across the land. But that's okay, 'cause people are supposed to persecute them anyway. They won't mind. One last time, we came all this way from Topeka, KS to defile your rite of last respects for a good man. Please take my picket and beat me profusely with it until the poster looks as if I inked it solely with my own blood. Peace be with you all."
It is my belief that the mob and their ilk have no choice but to pray over their trespasses. Pray for God's wrath or His forgiveness.
But pray it is not exacted by my hands.

I'm not in inherently violent man, but if someone (or some group) showed up at my loved-one's, or just a good friend's last rites, to PROTEST...
I might end up getting my butt kicked (Because I can't whip more than 2-3 guys at a time), and I might end up in jail, but I can assure you- the scene would not be pretty. Then again, I'm sure I'd be the catalyst, and all my mourning companions would jump in too, so it woudl be a real meelee.
Yes, you have the right to assembly; but- there's a such thing as respect too.

The main reason things like that happen is some people in this country have adopted a lack of respect mentality. I guess they have nothing to live for so they irritate everyone else they can and get away with it.
sorry to hear that, it sucks how people wont even respect the people that are sacrifying their lives for their freedom and right to live free. Everyone pays for all the bad things they done sooner or later. Keep your head up and dont let people like that get you or your family down no matter what.

Anyone who protests at a funeral deserves to get their asses kicked. I know people who have been in Iraq, one on his second tour and another goin back next year. Also another who I saw grow up and join the army, may be goin to Afghanistan in the future. I got into one hell of an argument with a group of protestors when the army was doin excercises in the city, they started yelling things at me when they saw the support our troops sticker on my truck. Tore into them pretty good. Anytime someone starts bashing the troops who serve to protect their freedoms it really gets to me, my grandpa and great grandfather served in WW2 and WW1. Too bad these people are too stupid to see the good that these people do in the uniform. Like I told those retards, "You wanna protest the war? Go to Iraq or Afghanistan and say it to the terrorsits and see what happens to you"
It's unfortunately a result of living in a free country. It's sick, what these protesters do, if you ask me.
We have and will have many soldiers coming home from combat in foreign lands. They don't need this kind of reactionary hate. They need our respect and help to get back to civillian life. We don't need to tell them that they are bad, or evil for what they've done. We don't need to tell them that what they have been busting their butts doing is unjust or wrong. We need to honor them for the heros they are. All of them.
There are individuals serving, who all have individual personalities. A lot of us don't know them. If we did, maybe we wouldn't even like them. There are individuals serving, who make up our amazing armed forces. Collectively they sacrifice for all of us. All of us should respect the individual for their part in the collective effort. We should support them and help them when they need help getting back to the daily grind here at home.
We can't take the ignorance and hate away because people in this country are free to be ignorant and hateful. We can counter it with respect and caring. Our soldiers, and their families, deserve so much more than they are getting from these ignorant protesters at these funerals.

There was a soldiers burial here last weekend and the police were geared up for protesters coming in from the west coast. Thank God the snow in the midwest stopped them in their tracks. It would have been interesting!
No matter how screwed up these protestors beliefs are I don't care if they wanna protest. Just don't do it at a funeral. Especially a funeral for an individual who died so they can keep their protest rights.
Go protest at the Capitol or White House. Better yet go protest at the VFW or American Legion posts!

If people were protesting at my family memebers funeral I would gladly go to jail kicking the life out of them. It's the very least I could do to defend the soliders honour. After all that solider gave thier life so everyone can have a better life.
Many thanks to all the soldiers and peace keepers around the world!
Thanks!

What get's me is how they make such a big deal about the reporters who put thier lifes on the line over their. Realistically all they are doing is hurting U.S. operations. All the terrorists have to do is tune in to CNN to see where the troops are. To keep on topic I doubt protestors go to the funeral of a reporter who was killed over their. I say round up all the protestors and ship them to Iraq. Let's see how quickly they change their minds, and ask for a gun to defend themselfs.
