I bought an XBox 360...

(they're going for 15% off at Dell.com, for those who care)

I've already got my eye on a few games that look like goodies; I liked the Call of Duty series on PC, the commercials for COD3 look intense, and Gears of War looks pretty good too.

Anyone else played any good ones lately?

I selected the package with the Premium system, the one that's like $600, then deselected all the options and add ons and games it came with. Click "Add to Cart," and on the screen for check out, it offers a 15% discount on purchases over $300. And free shipping.

ETA - A question for y'all that already own one of these things: Is it backwards compatible with older XBox games? I've heard "No," and "Yes, but you have to download this file or program from Microsoft." What's the definite word?

Why did you get the XBox when all you had to do to get the PS3 was shoot some gamer who had waited for two days, camping outside the store to get one. That's what some did around here.

Thugs and Gamers clash

Well, I guess the "thugs" were more interested in the money the gamers were holding so they could be the very first to own the new PS3.

Needless to say, I don't understand the whole gaming craze, but congrats on your purchase!

I could have done that, but in general, busting caps into other people can become a complicated mess. The police would get involved. I'd need a lawyer. It wouldn't be pretty, It just not right, as desirable as it may be.

See the video of the idiot that runs straight into a pole at some store rushing to get in?

It is yes, BUT it requires a specific DL for each game.

I actually JUST sold my xbox 360 since I didn't have time to play it anyway. I got rid of it jus before the PS3 and Wii launches so I still got some good cash for it.

I fully intend to pick another one up in a few months when the craigslist/ebay market is nice and saturated.

BTW, get yourself the HD DVD upgrade for $200 if you have a nice HD TV, as it is apparently the best picture quality DVD player around right now. Better than stand-alone units due to the fact it is uncompressed signal.

Yeap that article is about Sullivan,Indiana. Thats about 35-40 miles north of me. Let me tell you that town's walmart is pretty small. I don't think its a superwalmart.

First, congrats. I also picked one up this weekend as my x-mas present to myself. Gears of War is bad-****, get it! My buddy and I were up to 3AM Sunday because the game sucked us in. If your into racing the Need for Speed series rocks, I've been addicted to NFS:Most Wanted this weekend. Madden Football '07 is pretty sweet, though pretty complex.

As for the backward compatibility, this is the definite word: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/back...patibility.htm

Have you started playing Gears of War on-line yet? The ranked matches can get intense.
