Called 47 Ford Dealers And Finally
Found one with a Shelby GT 500.I know its not a lightning but I figured id pass on the information for the people that want one and think that the prices are going to drop to MSRP on these cars.I was told by MANY of the 47 dealers to buy one at any cost if you can find one.Ya right. I did however pay way too much $$ for it but it was either that or travel across the country and the $$ would have equaled out due to shiping/fuel/lodging and such. Its not like you can find thee cars anywhere for less than 10k over . Most dealers around here ( N.E. )are buying them for 10-15k over and selling them for 20-25 over. I paid $ 61K .I was told by MANY of the 47 dealers that these cars will not I mean WILL NOT!! ever be sold at MSRP. There are way too many people that want them and not even close to enough cars even on a 2 yr production run. I would not be suprised to see one for $5k over a year from now IF there are any left but, I chose not to chance it.Black with grey stripes, pick it up monday night after work.In the end, I love the car and to me myself and I the car is a good value for the performance you get.

Sounds like they reeled you in, I wouldn't believe anything a dealer tells you, give it 3-4 more months and there will be GT500's sitting. Give it 6-7 months and below MSRP will be the norm for them.
Congrats on the new ride and like many I have Shelby envy, but man 17K over sticker, thats Z06 territory or how about a new loaded 4x4 F150 and a new Mustang GT, but you don't get the exclusitivity either, I wish you all the best post pics once it hits your driveway.

Also, I know they only made 500 of them but have you see what the hertz cars are doing at auction? I dont mean the ebay auction either. The auctions that I attend as a dealer. The cars are auto/slow/ and theres really nothing that special other than the hype and the shelby name. ALL of these cars are doing $70-$90k with 4K miles on them. Thats what pushed me over the edge to go out and pay over sticker. If i lose my shirt over time, at least i own one.I cannot afford $90k for a used shelby . Its bad enough having to cough up 60.I think the chances are pretty good that they will at least hold @ sticker when the production run ends.
If they don't make enough for them, to ever be priced at MSRP, I'll probably never buy another Ford. It's the only Ford product that piques my interest in any way.

I can see why there would be more interest in The Hertz Mustang (GT-H). That project was carried out in Las vegas at Shelby vs the GT500 coming off the same assembly line (AutoAlliance International) as the Mazda 6 and other Mustangs. Plus not near as many produced. The 4 manual 2006 GT-H mustangs will be the treasure hunt though, if those 4 owners decide to sell (they didn't get used as rentals though, but went to collections)
You should be ashamed. I might go puke. $17,000 over>??? I think they can be had for better than that on Ebay right now>??? The dealers were pushing the same lines of BS about the Z06 a year ago. Now you can get one just about anywhere for MSRP and under MSRP if you look hard enough. People need to realize, IF NOBODY BUYS THE CARS AT OVER MSRP, THE PRICES WILL COME DOWN!!!
What's the saying, a fool and his money will soon be parted>???

I am a small collector, I know how much $$ it cost to travel to buy a car ,then shipping, lodging, and so on. On average it cost about $3,000 sometimes more to travel across the country and make a purchase. I have seen coupes sell for as little as $55k and as much as $65K on ebay.Matter of FACT, most dealers who even have these cars are buying them from OTHER dealers at a premium price. All the ORIGINAL cars are pretty much gone.
ALL of the cars PERIOD are gone in New england with the exception of 1 red one which is a convertable and the few that the dealer i bought mine from. im sure there are a couple stragglers, im no fool but good luck finding them.the dealer who sold me mine, actually only has gotten 1 from Ford. The other 7 hes sold have been buying from other dealers over MSRP.
as far as the "IF NOBODY BUYS THE CARS AT OVER MSRP, THE PRICES WILL COME DOWN!!!" goes, You know as well as i do it will NEVER happen. Too many buyers and Too LITTLE cars .Its simple supply and demand.

My opinon on this is simple.Id rather OVERPAY for a car that is atleast OVERPOWERED, FUN AS HELL and pretty rare and not something that is only worth money because of the name. Who the hell is wrong here me or the idiot buying a slow a$$ automatic mustang in the ugliest color scheme going for $75-90k.........I dont care if its built on the north pole, Its still slow as hell and no better than a gt with $1k worth of AFTERMARKET parts. They didnt even budget for wheels........Ive done my research,Im happy with my decision thats all that matters.Anybody who has anything to say either cannot afford one or chooses not to.It all about personal choice.I buy DRIVERS cars for my collection not just piggy bank cars.Hence my collection is 90% SVT ..........

Their scheduled to build approx. 14,000 – 16,000 from some of the reading I have done. That’s a lot of cars for those seriously interested in them at the MSRP price range. There will be even less people interested in them at $10k plus over MSRP.
Once the nervous ones and loaded ones finish giving up their money there will be some SVT Cobra’s selling at MSRP or perhaps a bit more $3k - $5k
It’s sick to think because some old guy who had no part in the car gets to put his name on an SVT Cobra and have Ford try to rape people over it.
I thought about it and could have had a 2007 SVT Cobra for $10k above MSRP from a dealer I am in good standing with due to multiple vehicle purchases and I couldn’t see paying that kind of money for something that is a tad bit better then a normal GT. For about $7k you can make an SVT Cobra out of the GT with the entire body kit, blower etc and have a bit more then 500hp.
If I could get one at MSRP I might trade my 2006 GT in for it but I got an awesome deal on my manual GT with leather and all options, other then that crappy Shaker 1000, for $800 below invoice. It was very hard finding a manual and usually once they get them in they sell within a few days. My dealer knew I was looking and was going to order a 2007 GT so I could get manual but when a Vista Blue GT with manual came in they called me when it was being off loaded from the truck. I was down there in a few hours and couldn’t believe they hooked me up at $800 below invoice since they were getting $1,500 above invoice for manuals.
Gotta love an idiot like me who gets something different ever 24 months or so…
Congrats on your purchase because it is an awesome car, just to bad they had to put some old mans name on it. Personally I think SVT does, or did, circles around the old guy…

Haha jeez did they see you coming. Thats exactly what they should have told you. What are they going to say "no dont take the car now, wait another 6 months when they have 8,000 of them out and you dont have to even pay MSRP"? For a collector you make some very "odd" decisions. If it was such a great deal why was the car still available? If i had listened to the dealers here i'd now believe i put my blower on after i bought the truck and it never came with one, because thats what they told me when i brought it in for service.
