Computer/internet help
My internet service is provided by the phone company. My spped is 768 kps. Yesterday, I noticed that internet pages seemed to open much slower so I checked the connection speed and it showed 1323 kps which is about double. I called my provider and of course they were of little help.
I thought I may have caused some change to my computer so I used "system restore" and went back abut a week but no improvement.
It seems that I get to the site but the pages open slowly - anyone with any ideas?
Thanks
Kenny

What site did you use to check your speed? If it was your ISP's site, then all you did was check the speed between you and them - you didn't check the actual speed to the internet. Go to www.Speakeasy.net/speedtest, and do an internet speed test. This will determine how fast you are getting to the outside world. If you get slow speeds there, but get good speeds to your ISP's site, then they are overselling the server that you are on. This is very common, and they will most likely not fix it. I fought my ISP for 2 months over the same issue, before I finally switched. I use Verizon's FIOS now - it works perfectly, and is really fast. They are offering a 30Meg service with 5 meg uploads now.

Even moving around this forum takes longer than it did a couple of days ago. I opened my the "Windows Task Manager" and checked computer performance but nothing strange there.

Download and run Ping Plotter. Run a continuous to a site like yahoo.com with ping intervals of one second. That will tell us if you have packetloss.
Also How long has it been since you ran ad-aware or spybot?
