Water filters ?

Long story below, but the short of it is I would like suggestions for a good small size portable water filter system.

Last week in Vancouver Canada. A two hour drive north of Seattle. We had several storms blow through here in several days, the last one was the worst in 70 years. Strong winds that wreaked havoc.
Vancouver is a harbour city and the north side is mountain side and also the richest neibourhoods in the Province. They have had several mud slides and area evacuations with around 1000 trees blown down. Homes, cars damaged but luckly no one has been killed.

There has been almost 3ooo homes with out power and the greater district's water reservoirs have been flooded with mud and there is a boil water advisory for the past several days and will continue for the next several, that is affecting 2 million people. There are local townships that have not had power for several days, lucky for them that their water reservoirs are safe for drinking as they are unable to boil their water.
There is another storm about to land in the next 2 days and the talk is that it is bigger than the last one..

Even Starbucks has stopped selling cofree as the water needs to be boiled and restraunts have closed their soda fountains and are not selling salads as they are unable to wash the produce. Beef, beer and beans are the menue today.

Today we are boiling and stock piling water and I will be going to out to recharge the propane bottles, and top of the gass in the trucks, they never get below 1/4 tank any how. I feel like have been caught with my pants down. I heard on the radio this AM that all the bottled water has been bought up. We still have lots.
