Seems a bit hypocritical

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Musi....ap/index.html

Isn't Elton being a bit hypocritical here? Why don't we ban religion and gays? We'll be even.

Elton John: 'I would ban religion completely'

"I think religion has always tried to turn hatred toward gay people," John said in the Observer newspaper's Music Monthly Magazine. "Religion promotes the hatred and spite against gays."

"But there are so many people I know who are gay and love their religion," he said. "From my point of view, I would ban religion completely. Organized religion doesn't seem to work. It turns people into really hateful lemmings and it's not really compassionate."

I think he's right.

Religion has been the biggest cause of wars, death and hatred since some idiot first invented it.

Of course the freak would want to ban religion because it doesn't favor his sickening lifestyle.

It really seems that the uber liberals don't get it at all. Did anyone see the story about the landscapers that politely declined work from a gay couple? http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald...iherald_nation
They were thrown out of a landscaper orginization. Some people attacked the their beliefs, threatened the couple and their five children and said they ought to be sodomized. These people will tolerate anything except for classic values that got this country through war and depression. It makes me want to puke.

Religion doesn't start wars, humans start wars using religion to justify it.

If they can't use religion, they use political ideals, if they can't use political ideals, they create crimes that need punished, if they can't .....

And the people in question weren't thrown out, they claimed to be a member and the organization released a statement saying they hadn't been for awhile.

Now just out of curiosity, what "classic values" that helped us through war and the depression are the ones "these people" won't tolerate?

Hatred? Bigotry? Fear?

I like their statement on the threat to the insitution of marriage.

I wonder if they realize that the divorce rate between pagans and "evangelicals" is virtually the same?

But yeah, gay people are so dangerous to all we hold dear.

Just read the responses here, it's pretty obvious that if a gay company refused to do business with "christians", we'd never hear the end of the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

So let me make sure I am clear on what we are banning here. We are banning religion because some people are uncomfortable with it? Brilliant! Oh, never mind - Hitler tried that, and it turned out to be unpopular after all.

Maybe we should ban all of those dang heterosexuals, because they must be evil too. After all, every war that was ever started was by a heterosexual - Oops, I might be wrong on that one too. Maybe Genghis Khan, who killed millions of people for no reason other than to conquer their land was into some kinky stuff, or he even might have been into a little religion when noone was looking...

Don't even get me started on those radicals who started the revolutionary war back in 1776. Surely they had some religious motives. If only they had been banned, then we would be free to practice whatever belief our queen or king says we should hold to...

Yet religion it seems is constantly striving to ban those things it considers sin, at least the ones not practiced by those wanting to do the banning, or as in of the case of the grand pubah of the "evangelicals", Ted Haggard, even the ones they practice themselves.

I mean really, you think gays complaining about oppression is worse than people who say gay people are bad while snorting crank with a homo hooker? Have you ever considered that gays are just plain fed up with being persecuted by a bunch of phony **** hypocrites whose morals wouldn't with stand the test of the God they claim to worship anymore than a homosexual would?

Good example:
This last election we had on the ballot a proposition for a sin tax.
What this sin tax entailed was a 40% tax on all tobaco products. (Aparently that is the only sin legally sold in this state.) This sin tax was suppose to go to improve the schools......... yea we've heard that before..... :cough:lottery:cough:

The ones attempting to get this sin tax passed ran ads on tv and the radio that came out and said, if you dont smoke or chew then it wont affect you....... I began hearing people that were going to vote yes quoting these ads.

I said that if it happens and it passes, then I am going to start petitioning to get all alcohol products, chocolate and fast foods added to this list of the sin tax. They are all sins too. Not only will the chocolate and fast food help better the schools maybe it would help with the obesiety problem too by lessening the intake. I can honestly say that I only use any in moderation if I do use any of those at all, so it really won't affect me............

MAN.... you should have heard the sudden change in attitudes!!!!!

Ohhhh no we can't do that because that does affect me........

If it gets passed then we no longer get a say or get to vote on what is added as a "sin" to this amendment, then it is up to our elected officials to decide what should be a taxed sin........

People just do not think about what they do......

BTW it failed by 4% so it will be on the ballot next time to I'm sure......

I am not religious at all, but I believe in a previous era people had a concept of a power higher than themselves. This could be law, religion, science, patriotism... A lot of people were willing to sacrafice their lives for cause on a mass scale (WWII). I believe that is lost on most of modern America. Although it's not spoken about directly, people today do not believe any cause is worth dying for. We have had too good for too long, and few understand the cost in blood of our freedoms. I believe this is true of most of us, just throw a lot more hatred of America, its history, and its promise for the very far left.

I'll also disagree with religious people wanting to do business with gay companies and never hearing the end of it. If I don't like a business's people or policies, I won't ever go back, and I don't need to go online, get support, and try to discredit the business. Most of my religious friends are the same way.
