Hacking Democracy - HBO Special

If you have an hour and a half to spare and want to watch something disturbing yet educational I highly recommend this special. While it does have a slight anti-republican tilt to it (their accusations are generally against GOP supporters) it is still well worth the time.

If you vote on electronic machines in your area you should watch it.

It should be highly upsetting to anyone who is interested in a fair and verifiable election process.

(climbs of soap box)

Off to watch mindless comedy with the wife.

I can't watch the special as i don't have HBO but I haven't been liked those electronic voting machines since day one. I don't like the fact that there is no paper trail to them. It makes it too easy to commit voter fraud. I do realize that there has always been voter fraud and always will be, but at least with a paper trail it's alot easier to catch.

There was a big stink I guess about 6 months ago, you might remember this vader, where our state legislature was trying to get rid of the electronic voting machines. I wish they would

There's a difference? Sorry.

Anti-republican, yet investigations into voter fraud usually turn up different results, don't they?

What isn't anti-republican these days? Why didn't they steal the election this time?

I saw it last night. The whole negative votes thing is freaky. Those people are pretty hardcore digging thru the trash. It's terrible if they really do screw with the machines.

[sarcasm]Ever notice how voter fraud is never a big issue in the news after a Democratic victory at the polls. I haven't heard one issue reported.[/sarcasm]

It really is a non-partisan issue though. I don't care who is fixing the elections I want it fixed...

Talking about elections.

I was reading several months ago about the concept of democracy as a form of government that has an actual lifespan. The short version as I rember it.
As people vote in the candites that offer the most social programs ( areas with lower income and welfare populations) the government can not constantly keep spending with out budget regards. It leads to budget shortfalls and increasing deficits. Leading to a possible economic collapse.

The author named the states that are voting that way and gave the percentages and the trend of other states that were slowly headed that way.

wish I had the link for you all. It was in interesting read.

The average lifespan of great democracies is about 200 years give or take...

We are on the downside...the expansion of social programs and spending is increasing dependency on the gov't, when we grow too dependent out democracy will be replaced with a dictatorship and eventually a revolution for freedom will again occur...

So, I should start training to fight in this revolution? Do you think that maybe Al-Qaeda might allow some of us Americans into Iraq to get some terrorists training?

I wonder what the shelf-life of a representative republic is?

Of course; but, I also mean to point out that the US of A is not a democracy. A pure democracy is 2 tigers and an antelope deciding what's for dinner. The majority rules and the minority gets walked on.

Just look at the best before date.

Same as with cooking oil or cheese.
