2nd Gen Camaro forums?

Looking for some info on an early 70's Camaro. Anyone know of any good sites?

Yes, I googled, but that brings up too much stuff to dig through...

I frequent their sister site, chevelles.com. Wealth of information between the two of them.

Thanks, I'll check it out...

I've been to chevelles.com in the past... but do you have one? You probably mention it all the time, and my CRS has prevented me from... what were we talking about?

Haha! No, I haven't mentioned it but maybe once on here.

About 7 years ago, I had a buddy in high school running around in a 69 SS. Dad said well we have one of those in the hedgerow! I convinced him to go pick it out the next weekend. He knew it was a 68, but didn't realize it was a SS396 until we started really looking at it. The front clip and engine were gone, him and his brothers bought it to repair my uncles El Camino way back in the day. Go figure.

Presently, it's "driveable". But it still needs a ton of work. Overall in really good shape as far as sitting out in the hedgerow for 20 years.

Pix please?

I'm working on a trade for what is presumed to be a '72 Camaro. I haven't seen it he was just told by the guy he bought it from that it has a 327 which is the only reason I want it (I'm told its quite rough, and probably isn't even a '72)

Hmm, I don't think I have any. This all happened before our family's assimilation into the digital age, so anything we have are 35mm in a box at my mom's house. I'll have to see if I can't dig some up the next time I'm home and scan them.

Turned out to be a '77 305/auto... I was REALLY hoping it was a round taillight car, but... However, its a 1977 Camaro, and I really like Camaros (sorry, near buzz cut, no mullet), and was born in 1977, plus the Camino is a '77...

So, thinking maybe finish out the drivetrain/suspension on the Camino, pick up this Camaro, and build the 327 TPI for it, and swap it over to a 5-spd...

Just a thought...

I would think twice before putting money into a 77 Camaro. Much better off spending a little more up front for a 70-73 at least it will be worth someting when its done.

Also if your are thinking hot rod that POS 1977 Camaro weighs about 3600

Yeah, you're probably right, but it can't weight anymore than a 70-73, which is what I really want...

I had a 70 SS350 Camaro from the time I was 15 until 25. Great car, handles much better than a stock 67-69. Only issue with the car is the interior. The instrument panel is very cheap and plastic, and dash rattles at various different places in almost every one I've been it. Interior replacement parts are difficult to find, especially the deluxe interior door panels. Also, very long and heavy doors tend to sag and also rattle if not kept properly adjusted.

Check out my 69 Chevelle. Nice change from the Camaro.

BTW - I believe the 70 camaro is around 3300 lbs.

Sweet...

Eh, I'll probably just hang on to my spare Camino (was going to trade it for the Camaro) and finish out the '77 as a good driver. Then once the time and money focus comes off the new house I'll finish out the top/interior of the Belvedere.

Then may consider looking for a clean round taillight Camaro or possibly even a Gen II Lightning!!!

Next month I'll be swapping the Camino's 2.56 open rear end for a set of 3.73's and installing an Eaton posi. Then rebuilding all the steering and suspension with polygraphite bushings. May end up replacing the rear air shocks with KYB Gas A Justs and adding air bags inside the springs, which may get swapped out too... Just gotta see how much I can budget right now... I've already got KYB's up front and Adcco sway bars with poly bushings...

Next on the list is probably a new cam, then fix a water leak reinstall some trim and all the missing interior... Should have a pretty darn good daily driver by that time...

I'd still like to find a 327 though for the Camino to put my TPI on...
